Objective: Research suggests military environmental exposure concerns are associated with negative health outcomes. This study investigated the relationship among exposure concerns, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and somatic symptoms to enhance post-deployment health care programs for veterans.

Methods: We analyzed intake health data from a heterogeneous sample of predominantly Operation Desert Storm/Shield and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)/Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) veterans (N = 247).

Results: Individual exposure concerns and somatic symptoms were associated with higher PTSD symptom severity. Regression modeling demonstrated total exposure concerns and PTSD symptom severity linked with total somatic symptom severity. Mediation modeling revealed PTSD symptom severity to partially explain the relation between exposure concerns and somatic symptoms.

Conclusions: These findings illustrate the need for integrative treatment approaches incorporating physiological and exposure-related concerns associated with PTSD among veterans.

Aim: To explore the effect of violence exposure on altruistic behavior and grit among emergency nurses in 103-bed emergency departments in rural hospitals in Egypt.

Background: Workplace violence is a pervasive issue in emergency departments. Nurses in rural hospitals, facing limited resources and isolation, may be even more vulnerable to the adverse effects of workplace violence.

Background: Late-onset Alzheimer's disease (LOAD) is the leading cause of dementia and a major contributor to increased mortality. Recent human datasets have revealed many LOAD genetic risk factors that are correlated with the degree of AD burden. Further, the complexity and heterogeneity of LOAD appears to be promoted by interactions between genetics and environmental factors such as diet, sedentary behavior, and exposure to toxicants, like lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), and arsenic (As).

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common dementia in humans that today concerns 50 million individuals worldwide and will affect more than 100 million people in 2050. Except for familial AD cases (<5% of AD patients) for which AD pathology connects to mutations in critical genes involved in the processing of the amyloid precursor protein into neurotoxic Aß peptides, it remains unknown what provokes the overproduction and deposition of Aß peptides in the brain of sporadic AD cases (>95% of AD patients). Some nanosized materials, e.

Background: The increased vulnerability of Alzheimer's disease patients to severe SARS-CoV-2 infection raises crucial concerns, especially with the potential transition of the COVID-19 pandemic to an endemic state. Given the rising prevalence of Alzheimer's in an aging world-wide population, elucidating whether SARS-CoV-2 infection may induce or accelerate neurodegeneration becomes imperative.

Method: To investigate the neurodegenerative effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection, we generated brain organoids using human induced pluripotent stem lines from one non-demented control, one with sporadic Alzheimer's, and one with familial Alzheimer's.

Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative, http://adni.loni.usc.edu/, CA, USA.

Background: Assessing tau accumulation in early affected areas like the lateral entorhinal cortex (EC) and inferior temporal gyrus (ITG) enables early prediction of disease progression and cognitive decline. However, positron emission tomography (PET) imaging poses radiation exposure and cost concerns. This research aims to develop a deep learning model predicting tau positivity in these regions using MRI.
