Photometric moments are global descriptors of an image that can be used to recover motion information. This paper uses spherical photometric moments for a closed form estimation of 3D rotations from images. Since the used descriptors are global and not of the geometrical kind, they allow to avoid image processing as features extraction, matching, and tracking. The proposed scheme based on spherical projection can be used for the different vision sensors obeying the central unified model: conventional, fisheye, and catadioptric. Experimental results using both synthetic data and real images in different scenarios are provided to show the efficiency of the proposed method.

One of the biggest challenges in food packaging is the creation of sustainable and eco-friendly packaging materials to shield foods from ultraviolet (UV) photochemical damage and to preserve the distinctive physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of foods throughout the supply chain. Accordingly, this study focuses on enhancing the UV shielding properties and biological activity of carboxylmethyl cellulose sodium (CMC) through modifications using zinc oxide (ZnO), copper oxide (CuO), and graphene oxide (GO) using the solution casting technique. The hybrid nanocomposites were characterized by fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrophotometer, ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and x-ray diffraction (XRD).

The ability of flow cytometry to identify and quantify the presence of cell populations defined by their expression profile of specific markers has made this technique a powerful and routinary tool in clinical diagnostic practice. Specifically in the field of hematological malignancies, flow cytometry allows the identification of the correct type and lineage of each patient's disease and also sensitively quantifies the presence of the disease at precise moments during treatment, that is, levels of measurable residual disease (MRD). The quantification of MRD by flow cytometry has allowed the adaptation of tailored therapies to patients, contributing to the improvement of the results of the different protocols in recent decades.

Vibrational non-Condon effects, which describe how molecular vibrational transitions are influenced by a system's rotational and translational degrees of freedom, are often overlooked in spectroscopy studies of biological macromolecules. In this work, we explore these effects in the modeling of infrared (IR) spectra for nucleic acids in the 1600-1800 cm region. Through electronic structure calculations, we reveal that the transition dipole moments of the C═O and C═C stretching modes in nucleobases are highly sensitive to solvation, hydrogen bonding, and base stacking conditions.

Unlabelled: Hip structural analysis parameters are associated with risk of fracture in women across a long follow-up period, with buckling ratio persisting independent of total hip BMD.
Purpose: Hip structural analysis (HSA) uses dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) hip scans to calculate geometries of narrow neck (NN), intertrochanter (IT), and shaft (S), which may complement bone mineral density (BMD) for assessing fracture risk. We aimed to determine whether HSA parameters were associated with fracture.

We have previously demonstrated that calcium plus vitamin D supplementation during adolescent pregnancy reduces the magnitude of transient postpartum bone mass loss. In the present post hoc analysis, we further investigated the effect of calcium plus vitamin D supplementation during pregnancy in hip geometry throughout one year postpartum in Brazilian adolescents with low daily calcium intake (∼600 mg/d). Pregnant adolescents (14-19 years) were randomly assigned to receive calcium (600 mg/d) plus vitamin D (200 μg/d) or a placebo from 26 weeks of gestation until parturition.
