We report a rare case of non-dermatophytic onychomycosis of the big toenail caused by in a 63-years old Iraqi female with a history of diabetes. The big toenail showed distal subungual onychomycosis with extensive yellow-white discoloration. Identification of the causative agent was confirmed by morphological and microscopical characteristics in culture and analysis of ITS-rDNA region. To the best of our knowledge, the isolated reported here is a new etiologic species of nail infection in Iraq and this is the first case of its kind to be reported in the world.

Deep Learning (DL) has significantly contributed to the field of medical imaging in recent years, leading to advancements in disease diagnosis and treatment. In the case of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), DL models have shown high efficacy in tasks such as classification, segmentation, detection, and prediction. However, DL model's opacity and complexity lead to errors in decision-making, particularly in complex cases, making it necessary to estimate the model's uncertainty in predictions.

Background: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are commonly used for managing gastroesophageal disorders but concerns about their potential association with increased stroke risk have emerged, especially among patients with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions such as acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to assess the risk of stroke associated with PPI use, stratified by the presence or absence of pre-existing CVD.
Methods: This review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines and included studies up to March 2024 from PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science.
Background and Objective: It is well documented that Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) has recently used to explore new resistance patterns and track the dissemination of extensive and pan drug-resistant microbes in healthcare settings. This article explores the link between traumatic infections caused by road traffic accidents (RTAs) leading to coma and the development of chest infections caused by extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out from March to December 2022 which included a 45-year-old male patient admitted to the ICU of Al Ramadi Teaching Hospitals following a severe RTA that resulted in a TBI and subsequent coma.

Diffuse esophageal spasm (DES) is a rare motility disorder characterized by uncoordinated esophageal contractions, often presenting with dysphagia and chest pain. This case describes a 70-year-old male who presented with atypical symptoms of DES, including episodic dysphagia to solids, postprandial vomiting, and chest pain triggered by cold liquids. Initially misdiagnosed as indigestion, further evaluation with barium swallow imaging revealed a "corkscrew" esophagus, leading to the diagnosis of DES.

Spinal dysraphism is the incomplete fusion of the neural arch, which can be seen as an occult or open neural tube defect. Meningoceles are a form of open neural tube defect characterized by cystic dilatation of the meninges containing cerebrospinal fluid without the involvement of neural tissue. Neurosurgical intervention is necessary in the newborn period since survival in advancing ages is often impossible.
