Objective: Recent advancements in chest tube technologies have gained interest for their ability to enhance postoperative recovery via reduction of retained blood syndrome after cardiothoracic surgery. The present study investigates the effect of the Centese Thoraguard automated line-clearance chest tube system on postoperative pain and recovery after cardiac surgery.
Methods: This was a single-center retrospective review of 1771 adult patients undergoing nonemergency cardiac surgery between January 2021 and December 2022.

Background: A Delphi study was conducted to reach a consensus among international clinical and health care experts on the most important health and functioning self-reported concepts when evaluating a switch from smoking cigarettes to using smoke-free tobacco and/or nicotine products (sf-TNPs).
Objective: The aim of this research was to identify concepts considered important to measure when assessing the health and functioning status of users of tobacco and/or nicotine products.
Methods: Experts (n=105), including health care professionals, researchers, and policy makers, from 26 countries with professional experience and knowledge of sf-TNPs completed a 3-round, adapted Delphi panel.

Background: There is inconsistent evidence suggesting that people with chronic low back pain may differ in variability of repeated trunk movements compared to people without chronic low back pain. These inconsistencies may be due to low reliability and task dependence of movement variability measures, which can be addressed using multiple movement tasks and summary measures.
Methods: Participants with and without chronic low back pain were recruited.

Hemothorax is a serious complication following thoracic surgery, often resulting from vessel injury or rib fractures, and is typically managed with chest tube drainage. Persistent or loculated hemothorax, referred to as retained hemothorax, may require more invasive interventions, such as thoracotomy. Although the intrapleural administration of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and deoxyribonuclease (DNase) has shown promise in managing pleural infections, its use for hemothorax remains controversial due to bleeding risks.

Radiation-induced lung injury is a common complication of chest tumor radiotherapy; however, effective clinical treatments are still lacking. Stem cell-derived exosomes, which contain various signaling molecules such as proteins, lipids, and miRNAs, not only retain the tissue repair and reconstruction properties of stem cells but also offer improved stability and safety. This presents significant potential for treating radiation-induced lung injury.
