The actinomycete strain FIM06-0036 was isolated from marine sponge sample collected from the East China Sea and identified as sp. based upon the results of 16S rRNA sequence analysis. One new alkaloid, 2-ethylhexyl 1H-imidazole-4-carboxylate (), together with a known alkaloid butyl 1H-imidazole-4-carboxylate () was obtained from the fermentation products of this strain, the structures of compounds and were determined by their detailed analysis of 1 D, 2 D NMR and HR-ESI-MS data, along with literature data analysis. Compounds and were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity with MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration) values ranging from 8 to 256 μg · mL against

The pathogenic oomycete Pythium insidiosum causes a fatal infectious illness known as pythiosis, impacting humans and certain animals in numerous countries in the tropics and subtropics. Delayed diagnosis is a primary factor contributing to the heightened morbidity and mortality associated with the disease. Several new serodiagnostic methods have been developed to improve the identification of pythiosis.

Bacterial proteome microarrays are high-throughput, adaptable tools that allow the simultaneous investigation of thousands of proteins from various bacterial species. These arrays are used to explore bacterial pathogenicity, pathogen-host interactions, and clinical diseases. Recent advancements have expanded their application to profiling human antibodies, identifying biomarkers for infectious and autoimmune diseases, and studying antimicrobial peptides (AMPs).

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are small, positively charged biomolecules produced by various organisms such as animals, microbes, and plants. These AMPs play a significant role in defense mechanisms and protect from adverse conditions. The emerging problem of drug resistance in microbes poses a global health challenge in treating diseases.

Efficient analysis of active ingredient in complex natural products is crucial for drug discovery, but developing a simple method for this is challenging. The discovery of drugs against bacterial resistance is urgent because drug-resistant bacteria produce β-lactamases, which inactivate antibiotics and increase infection risks, particularly the AmpC β-lactamase. Here, an integrated analytical model based on colorimetric sensing and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) affinity chromatography was developed for screening AmpC β-lactamase inhibitors.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has emerged as a promising nanomaterial with a wide range of potential applications due to their unique structural, mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties. However, numerous obstacles must be overcome for CNTs to be used successfully, including low solubility, aggregation, and a lack of specialized functions. Diverse techniques have been developed for the manufacture, purification, and functionalization of CNTs in order to overcome these issues.
