Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), the most common thyroid cancer, is predominantly driven by mutations in (primarily p. ) and oncogenes. Ultrasound (US) examination provides significant diagnostic data in the management of thyroid nodules, as many sonographic features of thyroid lesions are correlated with the potential risk of thyroid carcinoma. The aim of the study was to analyze the current literature in regard to the potential associations between genetic landscape and sonographic features of PTC. Based on the current literature, sonographic features of PTCs correlate with their molecular drivers, particularly between tumors harboring versus activating mutations, although many of these findings appear to be dependent on the tumor variant. Suspicious US findings, such as hypoechogenicity, spiculated/microlobulated margins, non-parallel orientation/taller-than-wide shape, and the presence of microcalcifications, are typical for PTC positive for mutations. On the contrary, tumors with mutations are most frequently hypo- or isoechoic and ovoid-to-round in shape, with smooth margins and without calcifications. There are also some US features typical for PTCs harboring other mutations, including , rearrangements, , , and . However, further research is necessary, as some rare PTC variants still cannot be reliably analyzed due to the scarce published data.

Purposes: We analyzed the acute-phase response in unilateral thyroidectomy by comparing the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOEVA) with the minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy (MIVAT).

Methods: Patients were randomly assigned to undergo either TOEVA or MIVAT, after we obtained their written informed consent to participate in this study. Blood count, C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-) were measured before surgery and then 4, 24, and 48 h after surgery.

Objectives: Surgery interventions for thyroid disorders are rare in pediatric population. This study aims to present our institution's 10-year experience regarding the surgical treatment and outcomes of thyroid pathologies in children and review the literature.

Methods: All pediatric patients who underwent thyroid surgery at our institution from April 2013 to October 2023 were retrospectively reviewed.

Imaging-guided percutaneous core needle biopsy (PCNB) is currently the most common technique for the investigation of potentially malignant bone lesions. It allows precise needle placement and better visual guidance, leading to improved diagnostic accuracy. Needle tract seeding (NTS) is a rare complication of biopsies in general, and its true incidence remains unknown.

Background: Thyroid carcinoma (TC), the most prevalent endocrine cancer worldwide, has become progressively more common, especially in women. Most TCs are epithelial-derived differentiated TCs, specifically papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). Although there are many therapeutic drugs available, curing TC is a difficult task.
