A Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped and orange-pigmented bacterium, designated 1505, was isolated from marine sediment that was obtained off the coast of Weihai, PR China. Strain 1505 was found to grow at 10-35 °C (optimum, 28 °C), at pH 6.0-9.0 (optimum, 7.5) and in the presence of 1-4 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2 %). Cells were positive for oxidase and catalase activity. The 16S rRNA gene based phylogenetic analysis revealed that the nearest phylogenetic neighbours of strain 1505 were Gy8 (97.1 %), B011 (96.3 %) and KCTC 32578 (95.6 %). Based on phylogenomic analysis, the average nucleotide identity values between strain 1505 and Gy8, B011 and KCTC 32578 were 75.9, 76.0 and 77.7 %, respectively; the digital DNA-DNA hybridization values based on the draft genomes between strain 1505 and Gy8, B011 and KCTC 32578 were 20.0, 20.7 and 21.4 %, respectively. Menaquinone-6 (MK-6) was detected as the major respiratory quinone. The dominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C G and Cω9. The DNA G+C content of strain 1505 was 33.3 mol%. The polar lipids included phosphatidylethanolamine, six aminolipids and four unidentified lipids. Based on its phylogenetic and phenotypic characteristics, strain 1505 is considered to represent a novel species of the genus , for which the name sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 1505 (=KCTC 72528=MCCC 1H00389).

A thorough polyphasic taxonomic study, integrating genome-based taxonomic approaches, was carried out to characterize the RB5 strain isolated from root nodules of growing on the coastal dunes of Bousfer Beach (Oran, Algeria). The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain RB5 had the highest similarity to LMG27940 (98.94%) and IzPS32d (98.

However, certain evolutionarily divergent subspecies have different host specificities and virulence capacity compared to the more commonly studied strains with pandemic potential. This resource examines 10 diverse isolates representing some of the most understudied subspecies commonly referred to as Pestoides.

Article Synopsis
  • Ceramic aerogels possess superior characteristics suitable for thermal insulation in extreme conditions but face issues with fracture damage that can cause failure.
  • Researchers designed ultra-stretchable ceramic aerogels using highly buckled nanofibers, which are created through a specialized electrospinning method, resulting in high flexibility and thermal stability.
  • These innovative aerogels maintain effective thermal insulation properties while being able to stretch significantly, highlighting their potential for robust applications in challenging environments.

Background And Aims: Current ESC guidelines on the management of patients after acute myocardial infarction only include the evaluation of left ventricular (LV) function by assessment of the ejection fraction in addition to clinical risk scores to estimate the patient's prognosis. We aimed to determine, whether comprehensive evaluation of cardiac function using LV and right ventricular (RV) global longitudinal strain (GLS) and left atrial (LA) reservoir strain improves the prediction of survival in patients with acute myocardial infarction.

Methods: In patients with non-ST segment elevation or ST segment elevation myocardial infarction receiving echocardiography within 1 year after revascularisation, LV-GLS, RV-GLS and LA reservoir strain were quantified.
