The lateral line system enables fishes and aquatic-stage amphibians to detect local water movement via mechanosensory hair cells in neuromasts, and many species to detect weak electric fields via electroreceptors (modified hair cells) in ampullary organs. Both neuromasts and ampullary organs develop from lateral line placodes, but the molecular mechanisms underpinning ampullary organ formation are understudied relative to neuromasts. This is because the ancestral lineages of zebrafish (teleosts) and (frogs) independently lost electroreception.

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a type of primary immunodeficiency that presents as a heterogenous disorder characterized by hypogammaglobinemia, poor response to vaccines, recurrent sinopulmonary infections, and can have noninfectious systemic manifestations. We performed a single-center, retrospective, observational study of five patients with noninfectious complications of CVID. All patients had CVID as defined by the European Society of Immunodeficiencies criteria and had received intravenous immunoglobulin therapy.

During embryogenesis, organisms function as a robust system that ensures uniformity within individuals, but they lose robustness and develop variations at advanced ages. However, when and how organisms lose this robustness remains largely elusive. Here, we identified a sharp transition from interindividual uniformity to diversity in the appearance and transcriptional features of age-matched Caenorhabditis elegans in midlife.

Introduction: The use of janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi's) in immune-mediated inflammatory conditions (IMIDs) beyond licence is expanding rapidly. The aim of this scoping review was to identify and present the available evidence on the efficacy of JAKi's in all conditions without marketing authorisation.
Methods: Through a detailed literature search we identified studies including 5 or more patients that assessed the use of any JAKi for any efficacy outcome .

The action of ozone in medicine is a subject of interest and lively, controversial debates. Its mechanisms of action are still far from fully understood. However, it is possible that ozone triggers a series of dynamics in living organisms related to chaos, multi-stable phenomena, and oscillatory processes.
