Method of Monte Carlo simulation of gamma radiation fields in the vicinity of the cloud of air contaminated by the radionuclides from emergency leakage from nuclear power plant was designed and tested. Air kerma rates distributions as well as gamma field spectral distributions were calculated for the Gaussian cloud model, different atmospherical conditions and emergency scenarios source terms. Based on this model, the radiation doses in the aerial vehicle (helicopter) and its shielding properties in the radiation fields in cloud vicinity were evaluated with an aim to prepare a method providing data for planning adequate radiation protection of the personnel during airborne monitoring/interventions.

For a given solar elevation, the levels of solar ultraviolet radiation at the Earth's surface are determined by the amounts of ozone, aerosols, and clouds, as well as by the reflectivity of the surface. Here, we study the evolution of these factors for three selected decades in the period 1950-2100 using results from simulations with Earth-System models (ESMs) participating in the 6 phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6). The simulations for the future are based on three Shared Socioeconomic Pathways: SSP1-2.

Correspondence pruning plays a crucial role in a variety of feature matching based tasks, which aims at identifying correct correspondences (inliers) from initial ones. Seeking consistent k-nearest neighbors in both coordinate and feature spaces is a prevalent strategy employed in previous approaches. However, the vicinity of an inlier contains numerous irregular false correspondences (outliers), which leads them to mistakenly become neighbors according to the similarity constraint of nearest neighbors.

We investigated secondary cavitation bubble dynamics during laser-induced bubble formation in a small container with a partially confined free surface and elastic thin walls. We employed high-speed photography to record the dynamics of sub-mm-sized laser-induced bubbles and small secondary bubble clouds. Simultaneous light scattering and acoustic measurements were used to detect the oscillation times of laser-induced bubbles.

This paper presents a custom made small rover based surveying, mapping and building information modeling solution. Majority of the commercially available mobile surveying systems are larger in size which restricts their maneuverability in the targeted indoor vicinities. Furthermore their functional cost is unaffordable for low budget projects belonging to developing markets.

Cavitation-induced pressure saturation: a mechanism governing bubble nucleation density in histotripsy.

Histotripsy is a noninvasive focused ultrasound therapy that mechanically disintegrates tissue by acoustic cavitation clouds. In this study, we investigate a mechanism limiting the density of bubbles that can nucleate during a histotripsy pulse. In this mechanism, the pressure generated by the initial bubble expansion effectively negates the incident pressure in the vicinity of the bubble.
