Objective: To evaluate psychometric properties of the Voice Symptom Scale (VoiSS) - Chilean Spanish version.

Study Design: Cross-sectional, nonrandomized, prospective study with controls.

Methods: The validation of the Chilean Spanish VoiSS version met the criteria of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Medical Outcomes Trust: Cultural and linguistic adaptation, by translation into Chilean Spanish and back-translation. Validity, employed external criteria (excellent, very good, fair, and poor). Reliability was made by test-retest and responsiveness to treatment, the initial voice and after vocal treatment of 12 dysphonic patients were analyzed, by GRBAS. The Chilean Spanish adapted VoiSS protocol, Escala de Síntomas Vocales (ESV-CL), was applied to 205 subjects, 89 with dysphonia and 116 of them vocally healthy. A cutoff value for the total score was determined by the efficiency characteristics.

Results: The ESV-CL demonstrates high validity, reliability, and responsiveness. A cutoff score of 35.5 was determined by using the high sensitivity (90%) and specificity (75%) found in subjects with dysphonia compared to vocally healthy subjects.

Conclusions: The results of the Chilean version of VoiSS, renamed the ESV-CL, revealed it to be culturally equivalent to the original version, and to be a valid, reliable, and responsive instrument for voice symptoms in the Chilean population. Chilean speech-language pathologists can benefit from this adapted protocol in clinical research and voice management.

Improving Sensitivity and Resolution of Dendrimer Identification in MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry Using Varied Matrix Combinations.

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is a well-known technique for polymer analysis, particularly for determining the molecular weight and structural details of dendrimers. In this study, we evaluated the performance of various matrices, such as 2',4',6'-trihydroxyacetophenone (THAP), α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (HCCA), and sinapinic acid (SA), and their combinations, on the sensitivity and resolution of poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers of different generations (G3.0, G4.

Introduction: Lung cancer is the leading cause of death by cancer worldwide and has a high lethality. The best treatment for patients with localized disease is anatomical surgical resection, granting good average survival in the long term. We did not find Chilean studies focusing on complications, long term survival or potential association with pathological or clinical factors.

Stigma represents a major obstacle in rehabilitation and community reintegration after brain injury. However, appropriate tools to measure stigma in Spanish-speaking countries are lacking. This study examined the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Anticipated Stigma and Concealment Questionnaire (ASCQ).

Background: Children with a developmental language disorder (DLD) frequently experience deficits in cognitive skills such as working memory (WM) and sustained attention (SA), which are closely related to language development. Yet, these cognitive deficits remain underexplored in early childhood, particularly during the preschool years.

Objective: This study explores WM and SA in Chilean preschoolers with a DLD compared to their typically developing (TD) peers, using the nonverbal tasks "Torpo the Clumsy Mole" for WM and the Continuous Performance Task (CPT) "Duno and the Worms" for SA, both from the Child Neuropsychological Evaluation Test (TENI in Spanish).
