Historically, electrophysiological correlates of scene processing have been studied with experiments using static stimuli presented for discrete timescales where participants maintain a fixed eye position. Gaps remain in generalizing these findings to real-world conditions where eye movements are made to select new visual information and where the environment remains stable but changes with our position and orientation in space, driving dynamic visual stimulation. Co-recording of eye movements and electroencephalography (EEG) is an approach to leverage fixations as time-locking events in the EEG recording under free-viewing conditions to create fixation-related potentials (FRPs), providing a neural snapshot in which to study visual processing under naturalistic conditions.

Swin-transformer for weak feature matching.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Department of Computer Science and Technology, Qilu University of Technology, No. 3501 Daxue Road, Jinan, 250300, Shandong, China.

Feature matching in computer vision is crucial but challenging in weakly textured scenes due to the lack of pattern repetition. We introduce the SwinMatcher feature matching method, aimed at addressing the issues of low matching quantity and poor matching precision in weakly textured scenes. Given the inherently significant local characteristics of image features, we employ a local self-attention mechanism to learn from weakly textured areas, maximally preserving the features of weak textures.

Livedoid vasculopathy, calciphylaxis, and hypertensive ischemic ulcer: update on ischemic ulcers due to impaired microcirculation of the lower limbs.

January 2025

Department of Infectology, Dermatology, Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy, Faculty of Medicine, Universidade Estadual Paulista, Botucatu, SP, Brazil. Electronic address:

Ischemic ulcers due to compromised microcirculation of the lower limbs cause painful ulcers that pose a challenge for the correct diagnosis and treatment. Livedoid vasculopathy, calciphylaxis, and Martorell's hypertensive ischemic ulcer are part of this group and present some similarities due to microvascular occlusive impairment. They are often misdiagnosed as inflammatory ulcers such as pyoderma gangrenosum and vasculitis.

High-resolution analysis of human centromeric chromatin.

Life Sci Alliance

National Cancer Institute, Center for Cancer Research, Laboratory of Receptor Biology and Gene Expression, Bethesda, MD, USA

Centromeres are marked by the centromere-specific histone H3 variant CENP-A/CENH3. Throughout the cell cycle, the constitutive centromere-associated network is bound to CENP-A chromatin, but how this protein network modifies CENP-A nucleosome conformations in vivo is unknown. Here, we purify endogenous centromeric chromatin associated with the CENP-C complex across the cell cycle and analyze the structures by single-molecule imaging and biochemical assays.

The microcirculation : master in normal pregnancy, puppet in preeclampsia.

Am J Obstet Gynecol

January 2025

Hasselt University, Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences, Agoralaan, 3590 Diepenbeek, Belgium; Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ZOL Genk, campus St. Jan, Schiepse Bos 6, 3600 Genk, Belgium.

Objective: To investigate the association between functional parameters of the microcirculation and the systemic cardiovascular system in a population of pregnant women at risk for gestational hypertension disorders.

Study Design: For this observational study, women at high cardiovascular risk according to maternal anthropometrics, obstetric and medical history, were recruited at random gestational age depending on time of referral to the outpatient clinic for high risk prenatal care at Ziekenhuis Oost Limburg, Genk Belgium. After birth, data of maternal and neonatal outcome were obtained from the hospital records: only women with normal pregnancy (n = 142) and with preeclampsia (n = 34) were included in this analysis.
