Clinicians are witnessing differences in the doses required for induction and maintenance of anesthesia, as well as prolonged recovery in some patients. Predictable factors like patient characteristics, factors related to the procedure, pharmacological characteristics of anesthetics and adjunctive drugs, might explain some of the observed differences. However, the role of various polymorphisms of genes encoding for drugs' molecular targets, transporters and metabolic enzymes can have a significant impact on anesthesia outcome, too. In the present paper, we critically discuss pharmacological characteristics of the most common drugs used in anesthesia, with a focus on the possible genetic background of unpredictable diversities in anesthesia outcomes.
Background: Puerperal infection (PI) accounting for approximately 11% of maternal deaths globally is an important preventable cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. This study aims to analyze the high-risk factors and pathogenic bacteria of PI, design a nomogram to predict the risk of PI occurrence, and provide clinical guidance for prevention and treatment to improve maternal outcomes.

While, vancomycins' pharmacokinetic vary among older patients, there is a paucity of data regarding specific characteristics influencing pharmacokinetics in Saudi adult patients. This study aims to establish a population-pharmacokinetic (Pop-PK) model for vancomycin in patients admitted to medical wards, with the focus on identification of patient characteristics influencing vancomycin trough concentrations.

Several bioactive laticifer enzymes from C. procera have been studied for their potential applications in the medical, agricultural and food industries.
Amphotericin B (AmB) has been a cornerstone in the treatment of invasive fungal infections for over 6 decades. Compared with conventional amphotericin B deoxycholate (AmB-DOC), liposomal amphotericin B has comparable efficacy but less nephrotoxicity. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the reason why liposomal amphotericin B has similar therapeutic effects but lower toxicity and the differences of distribution in humans between liposomal amphotericin B and AmB-DOC.
