Objective: To establish the relationship among age, sex, body mass index, consumption of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes with the inadequate response to the vaccine against Hepatitis B in patients with HIV infection who were treated in the Clinical Unit of Infectious and Tropical Diseases of the Regional Hospital of Trujillo - Peru, from 2014 to 2015.
Materials And Methods: The study was observational, retrospective, cross-sectional, type cases and controls.
Results: In the vaccinated patients, it was found that the age ≥ 50 years old; with OR = 3.4 and CD4 < 200, with OR = 35.0, are the risk factors to get the inadequate response to the vaccine against Hepatitis B.
Conclusions: There is a relationship between the re-count of cells CD4 < 00 and the age over 50 years old with an Inadequate response to the vaccination against hepatitis B in HIV-infected patients in the Regional Hospital of Trujillo.

Background: Inadequate treatment of acute rejection (AR) in pediatric kidney transplant recipients (KTR) can contribute to early allograft failure. Serum creatinine is an insensitive marker of allograft function, especially in the pediatric population, and may not detect ongoing rejection after treatment. We evaluated the utility of follow-up biopsies to detect persistent inflammation and future episodes of rejection.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tofacitinib in the treatment of active dermatomyositis (DM) and anti-synthetase syndrome (ASS).
Methods: Tofacitinib was administered at a dose of 5 mg twice daily to patients who exhibited inadequate response to conventional treatments. The primary end point was the reduction of T follicular helper (Tfh) cells at week 24.

Aim: Tissue-invasive bacteria have been proposed to be a crucial factor in the etiopathogenesis of periodontitis, with the probable interaction of tissue-invasive bacteria with the innate immune response through inflammasomes, perpetuating periodontal attachment loss. This study aims to reveal the correlation between such tissue-invasive bacteria in upregulating inflammasomes and pro-inflammatory cytokines.
Materials And Methods: This study recruited a total of 10 patients with stage III/IV and grade C periodontitis based on the bone loss to age ratio.

Introduction: Powassan virus (POWV), a vector-borne pathogen transmitted by ticks in North America, is the causative agent of Powassan encephalitis. As obligate hematophagous organisms, ticks transmit pathogens like POWV at the tick bite site, specifically during the initial stages of feeding. Tick feeding and salivary factors modulate the host's immunological responses, facilitating blood feeding and pathogen transmission.

Climate change brings intense hurricanes and storm surges to the US Atlantic coast. These disruptive meteorological events, combined with sea level rise (SLR), inundate coastal areas and adversely impact infrastructure and environmental assets. Thus, storm surge projection and associated risk quantification are needed in coastal adaptation planning and emergency management.
