Victoria's Complex Adult Victim Sex Offender Management Review Panel recommended that an independent body be established to manage high-risk offenders with input from multi-agency panels. The Panel's recommendations were influenced by the Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements that exist across the United Kingdom. This column compares the operation of the sole Multi-Agency Panel that has been established in Victoria with that of the Multi-Agency Public Protection Panels (MAPPPs) in Scotland and the Risk Assessment and Management Panels set up to combat family violence in Victoria. It then provides a comparison of how information-sharing has been implemented in Victoria and Scotland. It concludes that, although the legislation governing each is similar, the implementation and operation of the two has been very different. This difference in approach has implications for how clinicians and health services interact with the process, and how issues of information-sharing and confidentiality are addressed.

Sleep disturbances are common in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and associated with poor outcomes. We tested whether, in children with ADHD, (1) polygenic liability for sleep phenotypes is over- or under-transmitted from parents, (2) this liability is linked to comorbid sleep disturbances, and (3) ADHD genetic risk is associated with comorbid sleep disturbances. We derived polygenic scores (PGS) for insomnia, chronotype, sleep duration, and ADHD, in 758 children (5-18 years old) diagnosed with ADHD and their parents.

This report outlines an exploratory study that investigated whether the "Never Events" system - first used in healthcare contexts to identify and investigate preventable incidents that cause serious harm or death as a result of human error - could be adapted in the context of UK multi-agency child protection. Using a sequential design, two online surveys were carried out that explored practitioners' (n = 46) views about the feasibility of adopting the Never Events model and what, if any, incidents or events could be investigated plausibly using such a model. Practitioners were drawn from a purposive sample.

These exposures are preventable, but the commodities involved are highly profitable. The economic interests of 'Unhealthy Commodity Producers' (UCPs) often conflict with health goals but their role in determining health has received insufficient attention.
