The eukaryotic linear motif (ELM) resource is a repository of manually curated experimentally validated short linear motifs (SLiMs). Since the initial release almost 20 years ago, ELM has become an indispensable resource for the molecular biology community for investigating functional regions in many proteins. In this update, we have added 21 novel motif classes, made major revisions to 12 motif classes and added >400 new instances mostly focused on DNA damage, the cytoskeleton, SH2-binding phosphotyrosine motifs and motif mimicry by pathogenic bacterial effector proteins. The current release of the ELM database contains 289 motif classes and 3523 individual protein motif instances manually curated from 3467 scientific publications. ELM is available at: http://elm.eu.org.

Aminophosphates are the focus of research on prebiotic phosphorylation chemistry. Their bifunctional nature also makes them a powerful class of organocatalysts. However, the structural chemistry and dynamics of proton-binding in phosphorylation and organocatalytic mechanisms are still not fully understood.

Natural products have long been a rich source of diverse and clinically effective drug candidates. Non-ribosomal peptides (NRPs), polyketides (PKs), and NRP-PK hybrids are three classes of natural products that display a broad range of bioactivities, including antibiotic, antifungal, anticancer, and immunosuppressant activities. However, discovering these compounds through traditional bioactivity-guided techniques is costly and time-consuming, often resulting in the rediscovery of known molecules.

Tandem repeats are a highly polymorphic class of genomic variation that play causal roles in rare diseases but are notoriously difficult to sequence using short-read techniques . Most previous studies profiling tandem repeats genome-wide have reduced the description of each locus to the singular value of the length of the entire repetitive locus . Here we introduce a comprehensive database of 3.

Transient protein-protein interactions play key roles in controlling dynamic cellular responses. Many examples involve globular protein domains that bind to peptide sequences known as Short Linear Motifs (SLiMs), which are enriched in intrinsically disordered regions of proteins. Here we describe a novel functional assay for measuring SLiM binding, called Systematic Intracellular Motif Binding Analysis (SIMBA).

Background: The Sec14 domain is an ancient lipid-binding domain that evolved from yeast Sec14p and performs complex lipid-mediated regulatory functions in subcellular organelles and intracellular traffic. The Sec14 family is characterized by a highly conserved Sec14 domain, and is ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells and has diverse functions. However, the number and characteristics of Sec14 homologous genes in soybean, as well as their potential roles, remain understudied.
