Integrated analysis of the prevalence and influencing factors of poststroke dysphagia.

Eur J Med Res

January 2025

Clinical Research and Big Data Center, South China Research Center for Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Medical College of Acu-Moxi and Rehabilitation, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou, China.

Objectives: Poststroke dysphagia (PSD) is a common complication after stroke but there is limited information on its global prevalence and influencing factors, such as spatial, temporal, demographic characteristics, and stroke-related factors. Our study seeks to fill this knowledge gap by exploring the overall prevalence of PSD and its influencing factors.

Methods: A search of English-language literature from database inception from 2005 until May 2022 was performed using PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Scopus.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the predominant endocrine disorder among women of reproductive age and represents the leading cause of anovulatory infertility, which imposes a considerable health and economic burden. Currently, medications used to treat PCOS can lead to certain adverse reactions, such as affecting fertility and increasing the risk of venous thrombosis. Drug delivery systems utilizing nanomaterials, characterized by prolonged half-life, precision-targeted delivery, enhanced bioavailability, and reduced toxicity, are currently being employed in the management of PCOS.

Mitochondrial Alterations in Alzheimer's Disease: Insight from the 5xFAD Mouse Model.

Mol Neurobiol

December 2024

Institute of Health Science, Department of Biophysics, Acibadem Mehmet Ali Aydinlar University, Kayisdagi Cad. No. 32, Atasehir, Istanbul, Turkey.

Mitochondrial dysfunction is increasingly recognized as a key factor in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis, but the precise relationship between mitochondrial dynamics and proteinopathies in AD remains unclear. This study investigates the role of mitochondrial dynamics and function in the hippocampal tissue and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of 5xFAD transgenic mice, as a model of AD. The levels of mitochondrial fusion proteins OPA1 and MFN2 and fission proteins DRP1 and phospho-DRP1 (S616) at 3, 6, and 9 months of age were assessed.

Background: The Cisternostomy is a novel surgical concept in the treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), which can effectively drain the bloody cerebrospinal fluid from the skull base cistern, reduce the intracranial pressure, and improve the return of bone flap, but its preventive role in post-traumatic hydrocephalus (PTH) is unknow. The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether Cisternostomy prevents the occurrence of PTH in patients with moderate and severe TBI.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of clinical data of 86 patients with moderate and severe TBI from May 2019 to October 2021 was carried out in the Brain Trauma Center of Tianjin Huanhu Hospital.
