The mini wing is a variant of the chin wing osteotomy. Its design extends from the chin region to the horizontal branch of the mandible as in a traditional chin wing. However, the posterior most cut ends on the upper part of the mandibular notch. It corresponds to a shortened chin wing that respects the basilar edge of the mandible. Its advantage is the capacity to associate it with a bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO) in the global management of dento-skeletal deformity. There is no contraindication to the realization of a mini wing. Contrarily to the traditional chin wing, a very low positioned inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) is not a contraindication to the mini wing.

This case report presents serous atrophy of bone marrow (SABM) in a cachexic patient with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma who had undergone radiotherapy. The unique magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of SABM, known as the "flip-flop" phenomenon, were observed in both the irradiated and nonirradiated areas, a finding previously unreported in the literature. The report highlighted the characteristic features of SABM in various MRI sequences, which can be easily misinterpreted as technical errors, leading to unnecessary repetition of MRIs.

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are ubiquitous and toxic contaminants found in high concentrations in watercourses, and are not well removed by conventional wastewater treatment facilities. This study aimed to evaluate the removal and transformation of BDE-47, one of the environmentally predominant PBDE congener, by a green alga (Chlorella vulgaris) and a cyanobacterium (Microcystis flos-aquae) under different light conditions. Living and autoclaved cultures were exposed to BDE-47 at a concentration of 10 μg L for 7 days.

Neurotrophins are key regulators of neuronal survival and differentiation during development. Activation of their cognate receptors, Trk receptors, a family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs), is pivotal for mediating the downstream functions of neurotrophins. Recent studies reveal that cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5), a serine/threonine kinase, may modulate RTK signaling through phosphorylation of the receptor.

Neurotrophin signaling plays important roles in regulating the survival, differentiation, and maintenance of neurons in the nervous system. Binding of neurotrophins to their cognate receptors Trks induces transactivation and phosphorylation of the receptor at several tyrosine residues. These phosphorylated tyrosine residues then serve as crucial docking sites for adaptor proteins containing a Src homology 2 or phosphotyrosine binding domain, which upon association with the receptor initiates multiple signaling events to mediate the action of neurotrophins.
