Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is an extreme form of vomiting during pregnancy and is characterized with excessive vomiting and nausea and ketonuria, electrolyte imbalance, dehydration and severe nurtition deficiency. The etiology of HG is considered as multifactorial. Altough there is a great interest to HG in terms of psychiatric conditions, there have been limited numbers of studies that researched personality traits in patients with HG. In present study, we aimed to compare temperament and character traits between pregnant women with and without HG by Temperament and Character Inventory. 48 pregnant women with HG and 64 healthy pregnant women were included to study. The HG groups and control group were compared in terms of temperament and character traits and anxiety levels. The temperament scores of novelty seeking, harm avoidance and reward dependence were found to be similar between groups while the score of persistence was significantly lower in HG group compared with control group ( = .021). All character scores in HG group as cooperativeness, self-directedness, and self-transcendence were significantly lower compared with control groups (respectively; = .002, = .018 and = .029). The scores of STAI-1 was higher in HG group compared with control group ( = .027) whereas the score of STAI-2 was found to be similar between groups. Present study is the first to demonstrate different temperament and character traits in patients with HG. We argue that our results support the psychiatric background of HG; however further studies are needed to confirm our results.

Personality can be considered a system characterized by complex dynamics that are extremely adaptive depending on continuous interactions with the environment and situations. The present preliminary study explores the dynamic interplay between brain flexibility and personality by taking the dynamic approach to personality into account, thereby drawing from Cloninger's psychobiological model. 46 healthy individuals were recruited, and their brain dynamics were assessed using magnetoencephalography (MEG) during the resting state.

Background And Aim: Cannabis use disorder (CUD) is strongly influenced by genetic factors; however the mechanisms underpinning this association are not well understood. This study investigated whether a polygenic risk score (PRS) based on a genome-wide association study for CUD in adults predicts cannabis use in adolescents and whether the association can be explained by inter-individual variation in structural properties of brain white matter or risk-taking behaviors.
Design And Setting: Longitudinal and cross-sectional analyses using data from the IMAGEN cohort, a European longitudinal study integrating genetic, neuroimaging and behavioral measures.
Objective: This study aims to asess alexithymia, anger and its expression, sensitivity to bodily sensations, personality, and their relationship with the severity of the disease in patients with Restless Legs Syndrome.
Method: The study included 63 patients diagnosed with Restless Legs Syndrome and 63 age, gender and education matched controls. All participants were given, Toronto Alexithymia Scale, Somatosensory Amplification Scale, The State Trait Anger Scale and Temperament and Character Inventory.

Decades of research on personality identified dissociable psychological temperaments. Cloninger's temperament and character theory used a psychobiological approach to differentiate three major dimensions of personality: harm avoidance, novelty seeking, and reward dependence. Previous studies, heretofore, did not examine the correspondence between Cloninger's psychological temperaments and statistically independent data-driven components and how that could enhance the clinical utility of personality temperaments.
