Osteoporosis is a medical condition in which bone becomes fragile and weak. In this condition, the quality and density of the bone are reduced. Vitamin K is vital for bone mineralization as it plays a vital role in the gamma-carboxylation of osteocalcin. Therefore, if there is a deficiency of vitamin K, it can lead to osteoporosis due to undercarboxylated osteocalcin. Warfarin is the most widely used anticoagulant in the elderly. In this article, we reviewed how Warfarin, an inhibitor of vitamin K, affects bone remodeling and leads to osteoporosis.

Trastuzumab is now increasingly being used as a potent HER2 inhibitor in treating breast cancer, while acneiform rashes sometimes arise as skin-related side effects in patients undergoing treatment with HER2 inhibitors, and their specificity as drug-induced eruptions makes their management quite challenging. Pulsed dye laser (PDL) therapy has been utilized to treat a wide variety of vascular lesions, achieving excellent outcomes. A 595 nm PDL was used to treat a 38-year-old woman suffering from an acneiform rash induced by trastuzumab as neoadjuvant therapy for breast cancer.

Ejection fraction (EF) is the principal parameter used clinically to assess cardiac function and provides prognostic information. However, significant myocardial damage can be present despite preserved EF. Recently, the measurement of left ventricle (LV) deformation by global longitudinal strain (GLS) has been introduced as a novel early marker of cardiac dysfunction.

The frequency of drug-induced liver injury (DILI) in clinical trials remains a challenge for drug developers despite advances in human hepatotoxicity models and improvements in reducing liver-related attrition in preclinical species. TAK-994, an oral orexin receptor 2 agonist, was withdrawn from phase II clinical trials due to the appearance of severe DILI. Here, we investigate the likely mechanism of TAK-994 DILI in hepatic cell culture systems examined cytotoxicity, mitochondrial toxicity, impact on drug transporter proteins, and covalent binding.

Background: Venetoclax + azacitidine is a frontline treatment for older adult acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients and a salvage therapy for relapsed/refractory patients who have been treated with intensive chemotherapy. While this is an important treatment option, many patients fail to achieve complete remission and of those that do, majority relapse. Leukemia stem cells (LSCs) are believed to be responsible for AML relapse and can be targeted through oxidative phosphorylation reduction.

Cardiotoxicity remains a major challenge in drug development, accounting for 45% of medication withdrawals due to cardiac ischemia and arrhythmogenicity. To overcome the limitations of traditional multielectrode array (MEA)-based cardiotoxicity assays, we developed a Nafion-coated NanoMEA platform with decoupled reference electrodes, offering enhanced sensitivity for electrophysiological measurements. The 'Decoupled' configuration significantly reduced polarization resistance (Rp) from 12.
