Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a common autoimmune disease that primarily affects young adults. In this condition, the immune system attacks the myelin sheath of nerve cells, leading to a variety of neurological symptoms. MS diagnosis often relies on the analysis of oligoclonal bands (OCBs), which involves detecting oligoclonal immunoglobulin G (IgG) bands in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum.

Prebiotics are important for gut health and immunity in animals and could promote the growth of beneficial bacteria. The objective of this study was to investigate the prebiotic potential of lactobin and glucans when combined with goat's milk in the diet of cats. Twenty-four healthy cats (all about 2 y old) were randomly assigned to 4 treatment groups.

Antibody glycosylation patterns can affect antibody functionality and thereby contribute to protection against invading pathogens. During pregnancy, maternal antibodies can be transferred through the placenta and contribute to modulating both the mother's and her child's immune responses. Although several studies of IgG glycosylation during pregnancy have been carried out, very few cohorts studied were from sub-Saharan Africa, where exposure to microorganisms and parasites is high.

Mannose oligosaccharide (MOS) has been shown to promote animal growth, maintain intestinal health, and activate the intestinal immune system. However, the question of whether MOS can stimulate the immune system and alleviate acetylsalicylic acid (ASA)-induced gut damage remains unresolved. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of MOS pretreatment on the immunological and anti-inflammatory capabilities of rats with ASA-induced intestinal injury.

Naturally occurring human antibodies against glycans recognize and quickly eliminate infectious bacteria, viruses and aberrantly glycosylated neoplastic malignant cells, and they often initiate processes that involve the complement system. Using a printed glycan array (PGA) containing 605 glycoligands (oligo- and polysaccharides, glycopeptides), we examined which of the glycan-binding antibodies are able to activate the complement system. Using this PGA, the specificities of antibodies of the IgM and IgG classes were determined in the blood serum of healthy donors (suggested as mostly natural), and, then, using the same array, it was determined which types of the bound immunoglobulins were also showing C3 deposition.
