The monotypic tachinid genus Townsend, 1919 (Diptera: Tachinidae) is synonymized with Robineau-Desvoidy 1830, . The single species of , Townsend, 1919, is redescribed as , , based on examination of the holotype from Guyana and additional material from Suriname, Brazil and Paraguay. Three new species of similar to are described from Brazil: , and . These four species are treated informally as the species group. An identification key to the species of this species group is provided based on male specimens. Descriptions and illustrations are provided for the male terminalia of all species and for the female terminalia of one species, .

The Tachinidae (Diptera) of Chile are catalogued and information is given on distributions, name-bearing types, synonyms, nomenclatural issues, and pertinent literature. The history of tachinid collectors in Chile and authors who have contributed to the systematic knowledge of Chilean tachinids is extensively reviewed. The classification has been updated and 122 genera and 264 species are recognised in Chile.

A taxonomic conspectus is presented for the genus Oxysarcodexia Townsend, 1917, which is one of the most species-rich genera of New World flesh flies. It has its center of diversity in the Neotropical Region, with some species reaching into the Nearctic and a few species introduced to the Australasian and Oceanian Regions. Species within this genus are primarily dung-breeders, but some species have also been bred from vertebrate carcasses.
