Ultrasonic guided plate waves (Lamb waves) can be used to transfer power along the length of metal plates, achieving longer distance wireless power transfer (WPT), while not being impeded by electromagnetic shielding from the metal plate. In this article, a fundamental study on the performance of Lamb wave WPT is presented, including modeling, simulations, and experimental verification. By using Macro-Fiber Composite (MFC), d -mode, piezoelectric transducers bonded to a [Formula: see text] mm aluminum plate using an epoxy, power transfer of 0.47 W with 56% overall power transfer efficiency was achieved at a 204-mm distance. The measured frequency response of the power transfer efficiency matches well with the simulated results, and the effects of complex load impedance matching and transducer sizing were investigated. It is shown that the location where the efficiency is maximized roughly corresponds to the zero-order symmetrical mode (S) standing wave patterns due to reflections from the plate edges. For practical implementation, the effect of using different methods to temporarily or permanently bond the MFC transducers to the metal plate was also investigated, as well as the effect of electrically grounding the metal plate.

Background: This video article describes the use of bone-anchored prostheses for patients with transtibial amputations, most often resulting from trauma, infection, or dysvascular disease. Large studies have shown that about half of all patients with a socket-suspended artificial limb experience limited mobility and limited prosthesis use because of socket-related problems. These problems occur at the socket-residual limb interface as a result of a painful and unstable connection, leading to an asymmetrical gait and subsequent pelvic and back pain.

Bioethics is taking an institutional turn, where organizations are being taken seriously as moral agents. Within US healthcare, this is difficult to do without confronting "the market" as a highly influential context for organizational behavior. In the 1990s, pioneering thinkers such as David Mechanic, Brad Gray, and Mark Schlesinger undertook a first round of organizational ethics scholarship focused on how market forces influence health insurer behavior - motivated by a particular concern for health maintenance organizations (HMOs).

Floating-gate transistors (FGTs), considered the most promising structure among three-terminal van der Waals (vdW) synaptic transistors, possess superiorities in improved data retention, excellent endurance properties, and multibit storage capacity, thereby overcoming the von Neumann bottleneck in conventional computing architectures. However, the dielectric layer in FGT devices typically depends on atomic layer deposition or mechanically transferred insulators, posing several challenges in terms of device compatibility, manufacturing complexity, and performance degradation. Therefore, it is crucial to discover dielectrics compatible with two-dimensional (2D) materials for further simplifying FGT structures and achieving optimal performance.

Objective: To develop a predictive tool in the form of a Nomogram based on the Cox regression model, which incorporates the impact of the length of treatment cycles on the outcome of live birth, to evaluate the probability of infertile couples having a live birth after one or more complete cycles of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), and to provide patients with a risk assessment that is easy to understand and visualize.
Methods: A retrospective study for establishing a prediction model was conducted in the reproductive center of Shenzhen Zhongshan Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital (formerly Shenzhen Zhongshan Urology Hospital). A total of 4413 patients who completed ovarian stimulation treatment and reached the trigger were involved.

Microgrid systems have evolved based on renewable energies including wind, solar, and hydrogen to make the satisfaction of loads far from the main grid more flexible and controllable using both island- and grid-connected modes. Albeit microgrids can gain beneficial results in cost and energy schedules once operating in grid-connected mode, such systems are vulnerable to malicious attacks from the viewpoint of cybersecurity. With this in mind, this paper explores a novel advanced attack model named the false transferred data injection (FTDI) attack aiming to manipulatively alter the power flowing from the microgrid to the upstream grid to raise voltage usability probability.
