  • The geometry involves two bidentate 2-(1-benzimidazol-2-yl)aniline ligands, with a dihedral angle of 30.43° between the aniline and benzimidazole rings.
  • Stability in the complex is provided by intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds, contributing to a three-dimensional network in the crystal structure.

Article Abstract

In the title compound, [Cd(NO)(CHN)], the Cd atom lies on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by four N atoms and two O atoms, provided by two bidentate 2-(1-benzimidazol-2-yl)aniline ligands, and two nitrato O atoms, forming a distorted octa-hedral geometry [range of bond angles around the Cd atom = 73.82 (2)-106.95 (8)°]. In the ligand, the dihedral angle between the aniline ring and the benzimidazole ring system is 30.43 (7)°. The discrete complex mol-ecule is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional network.

Electron transfer in polysaccharide monooxygenase catalysis.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

Polysaccharide monooxygenase (PMO) catalysis involves the chemically difficult hydroxylation of unactivated C-H bonds in carbohydrates. The reaction requires reducing equivalents and will utilize either oxygen or hydrogen peroxide as a cosubstrate. Two key mechanistic questions are addressed here: 1) How does the enzyme regulate the timely and tightly controlled electron delivery to the mononuclear copper active site, especially when bound substrate occludes the active site? and 2) How does this electron delivery differ when utilizing oxygen or hydrogen peroxide as a cosubstrate? Using a computational approach, potential paths of electron transfer (ET) to the active site copper ion were identified in a representative AA9 family PMO from (PMO9E).

With over 14 million people living above 3,500 m, the study of acclimatization and adaptation to high altitude in human populations is of increasing importance, where exposure to high altitude (HA) imposes a blood oxygenation and acid-base challenge. A sustained and augmented hypoxic ventilatory response protects oxygenation through ventilatory acclimatization, but elicits hypocapnia and respiratory alkalosis. A subsequent renally mediated compensatory metabolic acidosis corrects pH toward baseline values, with a high degree of interindividual variability.

Monoanionic, bidentate-auxiliary-directed, cobalt-catalyzed C-H bond functionalization has become a very useful tool in organic synthesis. A comprehensive investigation into isolated organometallic intermediates and their reactivity within the catalytic cycle is lacking. We report here mechanistic studies of cobalt-catalyzed, aminoquinoline-directed C(sp)-H bond functionalization.

Saturated sp-carbon nanothreads (CNTh) have garnered significant interest due to their predicted high Young's modulus and thermal conductivity. While the incorporation of heteroatoms into the central ring has been shown to influence the formation of CNTh and yield chemically homogeneous products, the impact of pendant groups on the polymerization process remains underexplored. In this study, we investigate the pressure-induced polymerization of phenol, revealing two phase transitions occurring below 0.

Radiative Warming Glass for High-Latitude Cold Regions.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

Department of Electronic Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shatin, New Territories, Hong Kong SAR, 999077, China.

Traditional window glazing, with inherently adverse energy-efficient optical properties, leads to colossal energy losses. Energy-saving glass requires a customized optical design for different climate zones. Compared with the widely researched radiative cooling technology which is preferable to be used in low-altitude hot regions; conversely in high-latitude cold regions, high solar transmittance (T) and low mid-infrared thermal emissivity (ε) are the key characteristics of high-performance radiative warming window glass, while the current low-emissivity (low-e) glass is far from ideal.
