A flow cytometry-based assay was developed to assess the infective titer of two recombinant viruses: a recombinant herpes simplex type 2 (rHSV-2) and a recombinant canary pox (rALVAC.gfp). This method uses granularity of infected Vero and QT-35 cells, respectively, and correlates this to the infectious titer of virus samples. The percent of the cell populations with a high level of granularity could accurately be correlated to viral titers obtained through a traditional plaque assay, with R values greater than 0.8 using a semi-logarithmic scale. This approach offers a rapid, high-throughput method for infectious virus titration with similar accuracy to a traditional plaque assay.

Health system resilience is defined as the ability of a system to prepare, manage, and learn from shocks. This study investigates the resilience of the German health system by analysing the system-related factors that supported health care workers, a key building block of the system, during the COVID-19 pandemic. We thematically analysed data from 18 semi-structured interviews with key informants from management, policy and academia, 17 in-depth interviews with health care workers, and 10 focus group discussions with health care workers.

Introduction/objectives: The study aimed to determine whether in children with newly diagnosed juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs) differs from healthy children and to see whether the revaccination is safe and effective under JIA treatment.
Methods: Patients who were followed up with a diagnosis of JIA between January 2020 and February 2024 were included. The control group consisted of healthy children matched for age and gender.

Background: On demand, topical PrEP is desired by those preferring episodic, nonsystemic PrEP. PC-1005 gel (MIV-150, zinc, and carrageenan) exhibits in vitro antiviral HIV-1, human papillomavirus (HPV), and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) activity, attractive for a multipurpose prevention technology candidate. We evaluated the safety, pharmacokinetics, and antiviral effect of rectally applied PC-1005.

Background/purpose: Dysbiosis of oral microbiota has been reported in late stage of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) infection with cirrhosis. CHB is characterized by the constant virus-induced liver injury which may lead to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, some patients show normal liver function without antiviral treatment, associating with favourable prognosis.
