Objective: To compare the clinical outcomes between radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and microwave ablation (MWA) for the treatment of T1N0M0 papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) in a large cohort.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 1111 patients with solitary T1N0M0 PTC treated with RFA (n = 894) or MWA (n = 215) by experienced physicians. A propensity score matching was used to compare disease progression, including lymph node metastases (LNM), recurrent tumors and persistent tumors, recurrence-free survival (RFS), volume reduction ratio (VRR), and complications between the RFA and MWA groups.

Aim: The aim of our study was to assess the impact of high body mass index (BMI) on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in different Socio-Demographic Development Index (SDI) regions using data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021 study.

Methods: Using data from the GBD study, the burden of disease for T2DM was measured by analyzing the age-standardized disability-adjusted life year rate (ASDR) and age-standardized mortality rate (ASMR) for type 2 diabetes due to high BMI and the associated estimated annual percentage change (EAPC). Decomposition analyses, frontier analyses, and predictive models were used to analyze changes and influencing factors for each metric.

Objectives: Due to the increasing use of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in dentistry and considering the effects of radiation on radiosensitive organs, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of shielding on absorbed dose of eyes, thyroid and breasts in scans conducted with different parameters using two different fields of view (FOV).

Methods: Dose measurements were calculated on a tissue-equivalent female phantom by repeating each scanning parameter three times and placing at least two thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD) on each organ, with the averages then taken. The same CBCT scans were performed in two different FOV with shielding including thyroid collar, radiation safety glasses and lead apron and without shielding.

A 16-year-old boy was diagnosed from multiple sclerosis (MS) after suffering from paresthesia in upper limbs and VI cranial nerve paresis. Corticosteroids and fingolimod were started. After 13 months a worsening of liver biochemical tests (LBT) was noticed: ALP 787 U/L, GGT 737 U/L, AST 195, ALT 321, Bi 0.

Objective: Stress hormone levels such as cortisol and epinephrine increase with general anesthesia (GA) and surgery. Parathyroid hormone (PTH) has been shown to increase with GA in those undergoing parathyroidectomy (PT) with abnormal parathyroid function, but there are conflicting reports of it in those with normal parathyroid function. In this study, we aim to determine the effects of anesthetic and surgical stress on those with abnormal parathyroid function undergoing PTs as well as those with normal parathyroid function undergoing unilateral/total thyroidectomies (UTs/TTs).
