The diagnostic and curative potentialities of the urgent endoscopy in acute gastrointestinal hemorrhages was assessed in 150 patients who were subjected to 208 examinations. The cause of hemorrhage was found out in 94,6%. An original method of sclerosing injections into hemorrhagic veins was used in patients with portal hypertension in order to stop the hemorrhage from varicose formations of the esophagus.
