To identify the exact molecular markers related to coronary slow flow syndrome (CSFS) and its prognosis. Data from 54 patients with CSFS diagnosed by coronary angiography and 101 normal control patients were collected and analyzed. Logistic regression analysis confirmed that homocysteine (Hcy; odds ratio: 1.107; 95% CI: 1.018-1.205; p = 0.018) was associated with CSFS. Receiver-operating characteristic curve analysis identified an Hcy value of 17.1 μmol/l as an effective cut-off point for predicting CSFS. Cox survival analysis showed a relationship between high admission Hcy level (odds ratio: 1.19; 95% CI = 1.05-1.34; p = 0.005) and recurrent angina. Our results showed positive correlations of Hcy with CSFS and cardiac events.

The last two decades have provided far more options f both patients and their physicians in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. While dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4is) and glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) have been approved for nearly two decades, sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT-2is) are relatively new. Of interest to perioperative physicians, these drugs present specific perioperative concerns, prompting many societies to issue guidelines.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major public health concern around the world. It is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD), and, as it progresses, the risk of cardiovascular events increases. Furthermore, end-stage kidney disease severely affects life expectancy and quality of life.

Cardiotoxicity, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), hypertension, hepatotoxicity, and respiratory problems occurring several months to several years post-chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy are increasingly documented by scientists and clinicians. Anthracyclines, for example, were discovered in the late 1960s to be dose-dependently linked to induced cardiotoxicity, which frequently resulted in cardiomyopathy and heart failure. Most of those changes have also been associated with aging.
