Motivation: Sequence repositories have few well-annotated virus mature peptide sequences. Therefore post-translational proteolytic processing of polyproteins into mature peptides (MPs) has been performed in silico, with a new computational method, for over 200 species in 5 pathogenic virus families (Caliciviridae, Coronaviridae, Flaviviridae, Picornaviridae and Togaviridae).
Results: Using pairwise alignment with reference sequences, MPs have been annotated and their sequences made available for search, analysis and download. At publication the method had produced 156 216 sequences, a large portion of the protein sequences now available in https://www.viprbrc.org. It represents a new and comprehensive mature peptide collection.
Availability And Implementation: The data are available at the Virus Pathogen Resource https://www.viprbrc.org, and the software at https://github.com/VirusBRC/vipr_mat_peptide.

Objective: The neuropeptide calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) has been established to be a key signaling molecule in migraine, but little is known about the differences between the two isoforms: αCGRP and βCGRP. Previous studies have been hampered by their close similarity, making the development of specific antibodies nearly impossible. In this study we sought to test the hypothesis that αCGRP and βCGRP localize differently within the neurons of the mouse trigeminal ganglion (TG), using αCGRP knock out (KO) animals.

Immunogenic cell death (ICD) of tumor cells, which is characterized by releasing immunostimulatory "find me" and "eat me" signals, expressing proinflammatory cytokines and providing personalized and broad-spectrum tumor antigens draws increasing attention in developing a tumor vaccine. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether the influenza virus (IAV) is efficient enough to induce ICD in tumor cells and an extra modification of IAV components such as hemeagglutinin (HA) will be helpful for the ICD-induced cells to elicit robust antitumor effects; in addition, to evaluate whether the membrane-engineering polylactic coglycolic acid nanoparticles (PLGA NPs) simulating ICD immune stimulation mechanisms hold the potential to be a promising vaccine candidate, a mouse melanoma cell line (B16-F10 cell) was infected with IAV rescued by the reverse genetic system, and the prepared cells and membrane-modified PLGA NPs were used separately to immunize the melanoma-bearing mice. IAV-infected tumor cells exhibit dying status, releasing high mobility group box-1 (HMGB1) and adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and exposing calreticulin (CRT), IAV hemeagglutinin (HA), and tumor antigens like tyrosinase-related protein 2 (TRP2).

Tumor-promoting inflammation significantly impacts cancer progression, and targeting inflammatory cytokines has emerged as a promising therapeutic approach in clinical trials. Interleukin (IL)-1α, a member of the IL-1 cytokine family, plays a crucial role in both inflammation and carcinogenesis. How IL-1α is secreted in the tumor microenvironment has been poorly understood, and we previously showed that calpain 1 cleaves pro-IL-1α for mature IL-1α secretion, which exacerbates hepatocellular carcinoma by recruiting myeloid-derived suppressor cells.

Aim: Despite dysfunctional vasoactive intestinal polypeptide-positive interneurons (VIP-INs) being linked to the emergence of neurodevelopmental disorders, the temporal profile of VIP-IN functional maturation and cortical network integration remains unclear.
Methods: Postnatal VIP-IN development was traced with patch clamp experiments in the somatosensory cortex of Vip-IRES-cre x tdTomato mice. Age groups were chosen during barrel field formation, before and after activation of main sensory inputs, and in adult animals (postnatal days (P) P3-4, P8-10, P14-16, and P30-36).
Objective: We aimed to compare highly purified human menopausal gonadotropin (hp-hMG) and recombinant follicle stimulating hormone (rFSH) in short antagonist in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles of patients with poor ovarian reserve (POR). Limited research exists on this comparison in short antagonist cycles for this patient group.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective cohort study involved 165 POR patients aged 18-45 years who underwent IVF between 2018 and 2022.
