Background: Primary intracranial Ewing Sarcoma/peripheral Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor (EWS/pPNET) is exceedingly rare and easy to misdiagnose.

Case Presentation: We present a case involving a 23-year-old male who presented with headaches and vomiting. The preoperative brain imaging revealed an irregular mass in the left parietal lobe, initially misdiagnosed as meningioma.

Post mortem cadaveric and imaging mapping analysis of the influence of cochlear implants on cMRI assessment regarding implant positioning and artifact formation.

Eur Arch Otorhinolaryngol

December 2024

Department of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, Medical Center, Faculty of Medicine, University of Freiburg, Killianstrasse 5, 79106, Freiburg, Germany.

Objectives: In times of an aging society and considering the escalating health economic costs, the indications for imaging, particularly magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), must be carefully considered and strictly adhered to. This cadaver study aims to examine the influence of cochlear implant (CI) on the assessment of intracranial structures, artifact formation, and size in cranial MRI (cMRI). Furthermore, it seeks to evaluate the potential limitations in the interpretability and diagnostic value of cMRI in CI patients.

Case Series Summary: Two cats were initially evaluated for recurrent dysuria and haematuria, which were unresponsive to antibiotic and anti-inflammatory treatments. An abdominal ultrasound revealed focal wall thickening with a severe hypoechoic multicystic parietal lesion at the bladder apex. Surgical excision of the lesion (apical cystectomy) led to complete resolution of the clinical signs in both cases.

Objective Evaluate the utility of intraoperative ultrasound (IOUS) in brain and spinal tumor resections and the concordance of the extent of resection between IOUS and postoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods A retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data was performed. Thirty-nine lesions (36 patients) in the brain and spine were operated on for resection using IOUS between May 2020 and December 2022.

Introduction Parenteral heparin is widely used as bridging therapy while optimising oral anticoagulation(OAC). Newer Direct-Acting OACs(DOACs) attain therapeutic effect very quickly. We report the use of dabigatran as bridging therapy during warfarin optimization for cardioembolic stroke in two patients who opted to receive warfarin for long-term anticoagulation for secondary stroke prevention.
