During the past decade and a half, the most common cause of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) has shifted from tobacco and alcohol to the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV-driven p16-positive OPSCC and tobacco-related OPSCC differ in their underlying molecular and genetic profiles, socioeconomic demographics, and response to treatment. HPV-related OPSCC tends to occur in younger patients and has a significantly better response to treatment and excellent prognosis. The stark contrast in prognosis-with around 90% overall 5-year survival for HPV-related p16-positive OPSCC and 40% for non-HPV-related p16-negative OPSCC-has prompted major changes in the eighth edition of the staging manual of the AJCC (American Joint Committee on Cancer). The past 10-15 years have also witnessed major advances in surgery, radiation therapy (RT), and systemic therapy. Minimally invasive surgery has come of age, with transoral robotic procedures and laser microsurgery. Intensity-modulated RT (IMRT) and more recently proton-beam RT have markedly improved the conformity of RT, with an ability to precisely target the cancer and cancer-bearing regions while sparing normal structures and significantly reducing long-term treatment-related morbidity. Progress in systemic therapy has come in the form of immunotherapy and targeted agents such as cetuximab. Owing to the better prognosis of HPV-driven OPSCC as well as the morbidity associated with treatment, de-escalation of therapy via multiple strategies is being explored. The article reviews the advances in diagnosis and multidisciplinary management of OPSCC in the HPV era.RSNA, 2019.

Mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasm (MiNEN) of the colon is rare with a poor prognosis. Since the first description of a mixed neoplasm 100 years ago, the nomenclature has evolved, most recently with the 2022 World Health Organization (WHO) classification system. We describe our experience of a case of locoregionally advanced MiNEN of the descending colon treated with curative laparoscopic resection and adjuvant chemotherapy.

Background: Lung cancer is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally. Despite advances in targeted and immunotherapies, overall survival (OS) rates remain suboptimal. Cyclin-A2 (CCNA2), known for its upregulation in various tumors and role in tumorigenesis, has an undefined function in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Background: Competing definitions of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have been proposed by ICD-11 and DSM-5; it is unclear which diagnostic model works best for children and adolescents. Although other studies have predicted the impact of these models by approximating the criteria using older measures, this study advances the research by comparing measures designed to assess ICD-11 and DSM-5 criteria in hurricane-exposed youth. This study evaluates ICD-11 and DSM-5 (both the standard and preschool-age) diagnostic models by identifying diagnostic rates, evaluating diagnostic concordance, investigating the predictive value of constructs associated with PTSD (demographics, disaster threat and exposure, functional impairment), and examining model fit.

Nickel complexes are a potential candidate for antibacterial and antifungal activity. A new Ni (II) complex, bis(2-methoxy-6-{[(2-methylpropyl)imino]methyl}phenolato)nickel (II) (2), was synthesised by reacting, bis(3-methoxy-salicylaldehyde)nickel (II) (1) with isobutylamine. It was characterised by single crystal X-ray diffraction (ScXRD), UV-Vis, NMR, IR, mass spectrometry, and thermogravimetry (TG) to study its structure and physico-chemical properties.

Lung cancer, particularly adenocarcinoma, ranks high in morbidity and mortality rates worldwide, with a relatively low five-year survival rate. To achieve precise prognostic assessment and clinical intervention for patients, thereby enhancing their survival prospects, there is an urgent need for more accurate stratification schemes. Currently, the TNM staging system is predominantly used in clinical practice for prognostic evaluation, but its accuracy is constrained by the reliance on physician experience.
