AI Article Synopsis

  • Hepatitis B virus infection is linked to liver diseases and liver tumors, and this study examines the relationship between Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) complex and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
  • The research utilized the GSE14520 dataset for diagnostic and prognostic analysis, created a nomogram to estimate survival rates for HCC, and conducted gene set enrichment analysis.
  • Findings indicate that HLA complex could serve as a diagnostic biomarker, with specific elements showing significant prognostic value for overall and recurrence-free survival in HCC patients.

Article Abstract

: Hepatitis B virus infection had been identified its relationship with liver diseases, including liver tumors. We aimed to explore diagnostic and prognostic values between the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) complex and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). : We used the GSE14520 dataset to explore diagnostic and prognostic significance between HLA complex and HCC. A nomogram was constructed to predict survival probability of HCC prognosis. Gene set enrichment analysis was explored using gene ontologies and metabolic pathways. Validation of prognostic values of the HLA complex was performed in the Kaplan-Meier Plotter website. : We found that showed the diagnostic value ( <0.0001, area under curve: 0.784, sensitivity: 93.14%, specificity: 62.26%). In addition, and showed prognostic values for overall survival, and and showed prognostic values for recurrence-free survival (all ≤ 0.05, elevated 0.927, 0.992, 1.023, 0.918, 0.937 multiples compared to non-tumor tissues, respectively). Gene set enrichment analysis found that they were involved in antigen processing and toll like receptor signalling pathway, etc. The nomogram was evaluated for survival probability of HCC prognosis. Validation analysis indicated that and - were associated with HCC prognosis of overall survival (all ≤ 0.05, elevated 0.988 and 0.997 multiples compared to non-tumor tissues, respectively). : might be a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for HCC. and might be prognostic biomarkers for HCC.

Purpose: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) has proven valuable in treating locally advanced colon cancer (LACC) and is included as a treatment option for patients with clinical T4b colon cancer by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. However, the long-term survival benefit of NAC in LACC remains debated, due to a lack of conclusive clinical trial results identifying the patients who would benefit most from NAC. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of NAC in patients with LACC based on histological subtype.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally. The heterogeneity of the tumor microenvironment significantly influences patient prognosis, while the diversity of tumor cells shapes its unique characteristics. A comprehensive analysis of the molecular profile of tumor cells is crucial for identifying novel molecular targets for drug sensitivity analysis and for uncovering the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying CRC.

Electrical bioimpedance is based on the opposition exerted by body tissues to the passage of an electrical current. This characteristic allows the assessment of the individual's body composition, nutritional status, and hydration status. Electrical bioimpedance can be used to estimate body composition, health-related markers, general health status, diagnosis and prognostic of diseases, evaluation of treatment progress, and others.

Background: Ulcerative colitis has a serious impact on the quality of life of patients and is more likely to progress to colon cancer. Therefore, early diagnosis and timely intervention are of considerable importance.

Methods: Gene expression data of active ulcerative colitis were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, and genes with significant differential expression were identified.

Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a global health challenge. Various studies have shown that genetic and environmental factors play roles in the development and progression of CVD. Small non-coding RNAs, namely microRNAs (miRs), regulate gene expression and have key roles in essential cellular processes such as apoptosis, cell cycle, differentiation, and proliferation.
