A series of new urea derivatives, containing aryl moieties as potential antimicrobial agents, were designed, synthesized, and characterized by H NMR, C NMR, FT-IR, and LCMS spectral techniques. All newly synthesized compounds were screened in vitro against five bacterial strains ( and ) and two fungal strains ( and ). Variable levels of interaction were observed for these urea derivatives. However, and of major importance, many of these molecules exhibited promising growth inhibition against . In particular, to our delight, the adamantyl urea adduct demonstrated outstanding growth inhibition (94.5%) towards . In light of this discovery, molecular docking studies were performed in order to elucidate the binding interaction mechanisms of the most active compounds, as reported herein.

Background: Hyperuricemia (HUA), a common metabolic disorder associated with gout, renal dysfunction, and systemic inflammation, necessitates safer and more comprehensive therapeutic approaches. Traditional Tibetan medicine has a rich history of treating HUA. This study aimed to identify novel anti-hyperuricemic herb derived from traditional Tibetan medicine.

Exhaled breath offers an interesting matrix of low invasive sampling of potentially relevant information about the organism's metabolism in the form of volatile organic compounds (VOC). The VOC can be exhaled by the ructus (Islam et al., 2023) or passed the blood-lung barrier for expiration through the lungs.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the most serious and prevalent complications associated with diabetes. Consequently, antidiabetic drugs or foods potentially protecting the kidneys are of significant therapeutic value. Sulforaphene (SFE) is a natural isothiocyanate derived from radish seeds, known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different types of bleaching methods and repolishing on the whiteness index and staining susceptibility of additive and subtractive production resin-based materials and direct composite resins.

Methods: In this study, a total of 96 samples (8*8*2m) were prepared using a nanohybrid composite resin (Neo Spectra-ST (NS)), a subtractive-manufactured nanoceramic resin (Cerasmart270 (CS)), and an additive-manufactured permanent resin (Saremco print Crowntec (CT)). The samples were randomly divided into four treatment groups: control (distilled water, 14 days), in-office bleaching (Opalescence Boost-40% HP, 3*20min), at-home bleaching (Opalescence PF-16% CP, 6 h, 14 days), and toothpaste group (Opalescence Whitening, 2*5min, 14 days) (n:8).

Exosomal miR-6126 as a novel therapeutic target for overcoming resistance of anti-cancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma.

BMC Cancer

December 2024

Division of Life Sciences, College of Life Science and Bioengineering, Incheon National University, Incheon, 22012, Republic of Korea.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) stands as the sixth most prevalent cancer globally, presenting a substantial health challenge, particularly due to late-stage diagnoses that limit treatment effectiveness. Sorafenib, a multi-kinase inhibitor, is the primary chemotherapeutic agent for advanced HCC, but it only extends survival by 2-3 months. However, drug resistance remains a major clinical challenge, necessitating the exploration of new molecular mechanisms, including the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in sorafenib resistance.
