Brain cytotoxic edema is a neuroradiological sign secondary to variegate diseases ranging from migraine to fulminant Listeria rhombencephalitis. The tempestive identification of its underlying cause is vital for an effective treatment as any delay may be fatal. However, the lack of distinctive imaging biomarkers and the paucity of reports pose a significant challenge in its diagnosis and frequently lead to a misdiagnosis particularly with the more common acute ischemic stroke.

Background: Trabectedin (Tbt) is an alkylating agent prescribed for soft tissue sarcomas after treatment failure of first line agents. While cardiomyopathy can occur with Tbt treatment after anthracycline exposure, Tbt-induced fulminant myocardial cytotoxic injury in the setting of other systemic cytotoxicity associated with Tbt has not been reported.
Case Presentation: 51-year-old female with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, metastatic leiomyosarcoma with progression of disease despite several lines of chemotherapy including doxorubicin-based therapy was started on Trabectedin (Tbt) 5 days prior to presentation with symptoms of fever, myalgias, arthralgias, and palpitations.

Many pathogenic bacteria form biofilms that are resistant to not only host immune defenses but also antibiotics, posing a need for the development of strategies to control biofilms. In this study, to prevent biofilm formation of the fulminating foodborne pathogen , chemical libraries were extensively screened to identify a small molecule inhibiting the activity of BrpR, a transcriptional regulator for biofilm genes. Accordingly, the BrpR inhibitor BFstatin [N1-(2-chloro-5-fluorophenyl)-N3-propylmalonamide], with a half-maximal effective concentration of 8.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are widely used in cancer treatment; however, the emergence of ICI-associated myocarditis (ICI-MC) presents a severe and potentially fatal complication with poorly understood pathophysiological mechanisms. This study aimed to identify crucial immune-related genes in ICI-MC and uncover potential therapeutic targets using bioinformatics.
Methods: Using the GSE180045 dataset, which includes three groups-Group A: ICI patients without immune adverse events, Group B: ICI patients with non-myocarditis immune adverse events, and Group C: ICI patients with myocarditis-we analyzed differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between ICI-MC samples (Group C) and non-myocarditis controls (Groups A and B).
