Here, I present the data testifying that the conversion of free radical NO molecules to nitrosonium ions (NO), which are necessary for the realization of one of NO biological effects (S-nitrosation), may occur in living organisms after binding NO molecules to loosely bound iron (Fe ions) with the subsequent mutual one-electron oxidation-reduction of NO molecules (their disproportionation). Inclusion of thiol-containing substances as iron ligands into this process prevents hydrolysis of NO ions bound to iron thus providing the formation of stable dinitrosyl iron complexes (DNIC) with thiol ligands. Such complexes act in living organisms as donors of NO and NO, providing stabilization and transfer of these agents via the autocrine and paracrine pathways. Without loosely bound iron (labile iron pool) and thiols participating in the DNIC formation, NO functioning as one of universal regulators of diverse metabolic processes would be impossible.

A prebiotic model, based in the framework of thermodynamic efficiency loss from small dissipative eukaryote organisms [1-3], is developed to describe the maximum possible concentration of solar power to be dissipated on topological circular molecules structures encapsulated in lipid-walled vacuoles, which floated in the Archean oceans. By considering previously, the analysis of 71 species examined by covering 18 orders of mass magnitude from the Megapteranovaeangliae to Saccharomyces cerevisiae[2], suggest that in molecular structures of smaller masses than any living being known nowadays, the power dissipation must be directly proportional to the power of the photons of solar origin that impinge them to give rise to the formation of more complex self-assembled molecular structures at the prebiotic stage by a quantum mechanics model of resonant photon wavelength excitation. The analysis of 12 circular molecules (encapsulated in lipid-walled vacuoles) relevant to the evolution of life on planet Earth such as the five nucleobases, and some aromatic molecules as pyrimidine, porphyrin, chlorin, coumarin, xanthine, etc.

Salvia miltiorrhiza, the anticancer properties of these components are multifaceted, encompassing the inhibition of tumor growth, prevention of the metastatic spread of cancer cells, enhancement of the sensitivity of cancer cells to chemotherapy and radiation therapy, and the suppression of angiogenesis, which is crucial for tumor growth and survival. In the context of our recent study, we have discovered that tanshinone I, one of the active components of Salvia miltiorrhiza, possesses the ability to inhibit the proliferation of ovarian cancer cells, both in laboratory settings and within living organisms. To further understand the molecular mechanisms behind this effect, we conducted a comprehensive transcriptomic analysis.

Extreme events influence ecosystem dynamics, but their effects on coastal marine habitats are often poorly perceived compared to their terrestrial counterparts. The detailed study of changes in benthic communities related to these phenomena is becoming urgent, due to the increasing intensity and frequency of hurricanes recorded in recent decades. Slow-growing benthic sessile organisms are particularly vulnerable to mechanical impacts, especially the large long-lived species with branched morphology that structure Mediterranean coralligenous assemblages.
