A novel series of resveratrol-cinnamoyl hybrids as tubulin polymerization inhibitors were designed and synthesized, and evaluated for their anti-proliferative activities against A549, MCF-7, HepG2, HeLa and MDA-MB-231 five cancer cell lines. Most designed compounds showed better anti-proliferative activities. Particularly, compound 6h exhibited the potent anti-proliferative activities with the IC value of 0.12, 0.016, 0.44, 0.37 and 0.78 μΜ against A549, MCF-7, HepG2, HeLa and MDA-231, respectively, which was superior to that of reference drug colchicine. Besides, compound 6h displayed a remarkable inhibition of tubulin polymerization and a great potency to compete with [H] colchicine in binding to tubulin. Further studies indicated that compound 6h could induce the MCF-7 cells arrest in the G2/M phase. What' more, compound 6h induced cell apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner, and regulated the expression level of apoptosis-related proteins. These results revealed that compound 6h is a promising tubulin polymerization inhibitor for treatment of cancer and it is worthy of further exploitation.

Tubulin detyrosination has been implicated in various human disorders and is important for regulating microtubule dynamics. While in most organisms this modification is restricted to α-tubulin, in trypanosomatid parasites, it occurs on both α- and β-tubulin. Here, we show that in , a single vasohibin (LmVASH) enzyme is responsible for differential kinetics of α- and β-tubulin detyrosination.

We describe a novel Malassezia species named Malassezia polysorbatinonusus, isolated from a Japanese patient with seborrheic dermatitis. The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of the isolate (LSEM 4845) were only 94.7% identical to those of M.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) have advanced as a mainstay among the most promising cancer therapeutics, offering enhanced antigen targeting and encompassing wide diversity in their linker and payload components. Small-molecule inhibitors of tubulin polymerization have found success as payloads in FDA approved ADCs and represent further promise in next-generation, pre-clinical and developmental ADCs. Unique dual-mechanism payloads (previously designed and synthesized in our laboratories) function as both potent antiproliferative agents and promising vascular disrupting agents capable of imparting selective and effective damage to tumor-associated microvessels.

As nucleus-forming phages become better characterized, understanding their unifying similarities and unique differences will help us understand how they occupy varied niches and infect diverse hosts. All identified nucleus-forming phages fall within the Chimalliviridae family and share a core genome of 68 unique genes including chimallin, the major nuclear shell protein. A well-studied but non-essential protein encoded by many nucleus-forming phages is PhuZ, a tubulin homolog which aids in capsid migration, nucleus rotation, and nucleus positioning.

Rice plants are important food crops that are sensitive to cold stress. Microtubules (MTs) are highly associated with plant response to cold stress. The exogenous application of abscisic acid (ABA) can transiently induce the cold stability of microtubules.
