Graphene-based powder absorbers have been used to attain excellent microwave absorption. However, it is not clear if inferior microwave absorption by pure graphene materials can be attributed to impedance mismatching or inadequate attenuation capability. In this comparative study, we focus on these aspects. Graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) multi-component composites (GNPs@NiS@MoS) were prepared by hydrothermal reaction with different S and Mo molar ratios. The morphologies, phase crystals, elemental composition, and magnetic properties of the composites were also analyzed. In addition, microwave absorption of the as-prepared samples was investigated and it revealed that the impedance mismatching could be responsible for inferior microwave absorption; higher conductivity can lead to skin effect that inhibits the further incidence of microwaves into the absorbers. Furthermore, the optimum reflection loss (RL) of GNPs@NiS@MoS-2 can reach -43.3 dB at a thickness of 2.2 mm and the corresponding bandwidth with effective attenuation (RL < -10 dB) of up to 3.6 GHz (from 7.0 to 10.6 GHz). Compared with the GNPs, the enhanced microwave absorption can be assigned to the synergistic effects of conductive and dielectric losses.

It is a major challenge to obtain broadband microwave absorption (MA) properties using low dielectric or magnetic nanoparticle-decorated carbon composites due to the limited single conductive loss or polarization loss of the carbon materials used as substrates. Novel pure cellulose-derived graphite carbon (CGC) materials can be used as an exceptional substrate option due to their special defective graphitic carbon structure, which provides both conduction and polarization loss. Herein, CGC@ZnO composites were first synthesized by atomic layer deposition (ALD) for use as microwave absorbents.

We report a green approach to prepare carbon dots (CDs) with fresh tomatoes as carbon sources and amino acids as dopants (ACDs) by a microwave assisted method. The synthesised CDs were analysed by UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, high resolution transmission electron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photo electron spectroscopy. An MTT assay was used to evaluate the cytotoxicity of CDs toward L929 cells and found that CDs exhibit low cytotoxicity.

Faithful quantum state transfer between telecom photons and microwave frequency mechanical oscillations necessitate a fast conversion rate and low thermal noise. Two-dimensional (2D) optomechanical crystals (OMCs) are favorable candidates that satisfy those requirements. 2D OMCs enable sufficiently high mechanical frequency (1∼10 GHz) to make the resolved-sideband regime achievable, a prerequisite for many quantum protocols.

Microwave absorption materials (MAMs) gradually exhibit crucial applications in reducing electromagnetic wave (EMW) pollution, avoiding EMW information leakage, and solving radar stealth. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)-derived materials are flourishing in the domain of EMW absorption attributed to their especial structures, heteroatom doping and controllable components. Herein, various strategies to enhance the EMW absorption ability of MOFs-derived materials are outlined, covering structural design and compositional regulation.

Synthetic antidiabetic drugs are often associated with various adverse side effects, including hypoglycemia, nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances, headaches, and even liver damage. In contrast, plant-derived natural antidiabetic bioactive compounds typically exhibit lower toxicity and fewer side effects and have been reported to aid effectively in diabetes management. These plant extracts regulate diabetes by restoring pancreatic function, enhancing insulin secretion, inhibiting intestinal glucose absorption, and facilitating insulin dependent metabolism.
