YbMgGaO was recently proposed as a promising quantum-spin-liquid candidate material. However, some details of its structure, such as those related to a spatial anisotropy, were not completely understood. In this work, we perform ab initio calculations based on density-functional-theory to investigate the structural, the electronic and the magnetic properties of YbMgGaO. The geometrical model was constructed to take into account disorder effects produced by the random distribution of Ga and Mg along the lattice. We found a substantial spatial anisotropy revealed by variations up to 8% in the Mg-O and Ga-O bond lengths, which results in variations up to 3% in the Yb-Yb distances along its triangular lattice. Thus, the Yb lattice was not perfectly triangular. Furthermore, we demonstrate an out-of-plane magnetization at the Yb atoms with magnetic anisotropy energy of [Formula: see text] eV/Yb and a small interlayer exchange of [Formula: see text] eV/Yb, demonstrating that the system is only approximately two-dimensional. The presented results provide insights for an atomic-scale understanding of YbMgGaO with density-functional-theory calculations.

Objective: The study aimed to investigate the damage of white matter (WM) microstructure and structural network in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) using diffusion tensor imaging.

Methods: Tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) were used to compare the difference in WM fractional anisotropy (FA) between SLE and HCs groups. The differences in WM networks between groups are compared using graph theory.

Purpose: To complement the current research on altered white matter integrity in children with non-lesional temporal lobe epilepsy (NL-TLE), especially the correlation between diffusion metrics and clinical characteristics, so as to provide imaging evidence for clinical practice.

Methods: Children with temporal lobe epilepsy and no lesions on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were retrospectively collected from 2016.01.

Dynamics of a single anisotropic particle under various resetting protocols.

We study analytically the dynamics of an anisotropic particle subjected to different stochastic resetting schemes in two dimensions. The Brownian motion of shape-asymmetric particles in two dimensions results in anisotropic diffusion at short times, while the late-time transport is isotropic due to rotational diffusion. We show that the presence of orientational resetting promotes the anisotropy to late times.

Chronic back pain (CBP) is a global health concern with significant societal and economic burden. While various predictors of back pain chronicity have been proposed, including demographic and psychosocial factors, neuroimaging studies have pointed to brain characteristics as predictors of CBP. However, large-scale, multisite validation of these predictors is currently lacking.

Alterations in white matter microstructure in bipolar disorder patients with and without psychosis.

Department of Nuclear Medicine, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Chengdu, China; Research Unit of Psychoradiology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Chengdu, China. Electronic address:

Objective: The overlap of affective disturbance and psychosis considerably makes it complex to determine the etiology of bipolar disorder (BD) and develop targeted interventions. The present study aimed to determine the white matter microstructural alterations that distinguish between BD with psychosis (BDP) and BD with no psychosis (BDNP) to identify patients who may specifically benefit from appropriately effective treatments.

Methods: Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance images were acquired from 38 participants with BDP, 52 participants with BDNP and 70 healthy controls (HCs).
