Background: In humans, larger artery stiffening is associated with increased tau phosphorylation and neurodegeneration. However, because arterial stiffness often co-occurs with other age-related conditions like hypertension, atherosclerosis, and diabetes, it is nearly impossible to distill the underlying mechanisms specifically linking arterial stiffening to abnormal brain function. We leveraged a surgical mouse model of larger artery stiffening and used it concurrently with a transgenic Alzheimer's disease (AD) mouse model of tau pathology to investigate the impact of larger artery stiffening on cognition.

Cardiovascular Non-Invasive Imaging Research Laboratory, Department of Cardiology, Copenhagen University Hospital - Herlev and Gentofte, Hellerup, Denmark.
Background: Myocardial work is a novel measure of potential value for diagnosing coronary artery disease (CAD). It may therefore be useful in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), in whom the diagnostic work-up can be challenging.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of patients with CKD (G1-5, nondialysis-dependent).

Background: Despite advancements in valve implantation devices, vascular access complications (VAC) remain a significant cause of morbidity and mortality for those undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). We describe pre-operative imaging analysis of the aortoiliac and femoral arterial beds using the TransAtlantic intersociety consensus (TASC) score, ilio-femoral tortuosity, and procedural characteristics to identify anatomic risk factors predictive of VAC in TAVR.
Methods: Consecutive patients undergoing TAVR from 2012 to 2022 at a single North Dakota hospital were retrospectively reviewed.

Department of Experimental Clinical Oncology, Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark; Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark; Danish Center for Particle Therapy, Aarhus University Hospital, Aarhus, Denmark.
Background And Purpose: Radiotherapy improves outcomes for breast cancer. However, prior studies have correlated the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) to the mean heart dose (MHD), mean dose to the left anterior descending artery (LAD_mean) and the left ventricle V5Gy (LV5). Other studies showed an increased risk of CAD for patients with pronounced coronary artery calcification (CAC) at the time of radiotherapy.
