Intracellular delivery of proteins can directly impact dysregulated and dysfunctional proteins and is a key step in the fast growing field of protein therapeutics. The vast majority of protein-delivery systems enter cells through endocytic pathways, but endosomal escape is a difficult and inefficient process, demanding fundamentally different methods of delivery. We report ultrasmall cationic molecularly imprinted nanoparticles that bind protein targets with high specificity through their uniquely distributed surface lysine groups.

Pangenome indexes are promising tools for many applications, including classification of nanopore sequencing reads. Move structure is a compressed-index data structure based on the Burrows-Wheeler Transform (BWT). It offers simultaneous O(1)-time queries and O(r) space, where r is the number of BWT runs (consecutive sequence of identical characters).

1. It remains unclear whether slow-growing broilers actually represent an overall animal welfare improvement - a major knowledge gap for policymakers and animal welfare NGOs. This paper addresses this knowledge gap by using an economic model to produce an all-things-considered estimate of the welfare effects of slow-growing genotypes.

Background: With the growing interest in applying fermentation to seaweed biomasses, there is a need for fast and efficient selection of microbial strains that have the ability to 1) acidify quickly, 2) utilize seaweed constituents and c) exhibit some proteolytic activity. The present study aims to provide a fast methodology to screen large bacterial collections for potential applications in optimized seaweed fermentations, as well as investigate and assess the performance of a selected bacterial collection of the National Food Institute Culture Collection (NFICC) in seaweed fermentation. This approach is directed toward high-throughput (HT) methodologies, employing microwell assays for different phenotypical characteristics of lactic acid bacteria isolated from different sources.

Enhanced glycolysis and elevated lactic acid (LA) production are observed during sudden death syndrome (SDS) in broilers. However, the mechanism underlying LA-induced cardiomyocyte damage and heart failure in fast-growing broilers remains unclear. In this study, chicken embryo cardiomyocytes (CECs) were cultured and treated with LA to investigate LA-induced CEC injury and its mechanism, aiming to develop strategies to prevent LA-induced SDS in broilers.
