Hand-foot syndrome (HFS) is the main side effect of capecitabine and affects the compression zones of the body such as the palms and soles, causing numbness, paresthesias, skin swelling or erythema, scaling, chapping, hard nodule-like blisters, and severe pain. Loss of fingerprints is also observed in some cases. Severe cases of HFS are common in the review of clinical reports. However, loss of fingerprints has not received significant attention. Two reported cases of loss of fingerprints in and have drawn attention to this side effect of capecitabine. Loss of fingerprints has a serious impact on patients' daily life, especially on personal identification. This report describes a patient who lost her fingerprints during the early stage of chemotherapy. Our aim is to draw the medical profession's attention to this problem.

Unlabelled: Bacterial typing at whole-genome scales is now feasible owing to decreasing costs in high-throughput sequencing and the recent advances in computation. The unprecedented resolution of whole-genome typing is achieved by genotyping the variable segments of bacterial genomes that can fluctuate significantly in gene content. However, due to the transient and hypervariable nature of many accessory elements, the value of the added resolution in outbreak investigations remains disputed.

Wildlife forensics is a relatively underexplored field of science. It provides forensic evidence to support legal investigations involving wildlife crime, such as the trafficking and poaching of animals and/or their goods. The consequences of poaching are not just limited to a decline in animal welfare and include the spread of zoonotic disease, species, cultural and habitat loss, and injury of anti-poaching rangers.

PPTC7 is a mitochondrial phosphatase that is essential for mitochondrial biogenesis, metabolism, protein content maintenance and transport. While the mitochondrial roles of PPTC7 are well-characterized, its roles outside the mitochondria are unclear. Here we identified a non-mitochondrial role for PPTC7 in regulating epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) trafficking.

In the post-large era, various COVID-19 sequelae are getting more and more attention to health problems. Although the mortality rate of the COVID-19 infection is now declining, it is often accompanied by new clinical sequelae with different symptoms such as fatigue after infection, loss of smell. The degree of age, gender, virus infection seems to be weakly correlated with clinical symptoms.
