Harmonics are an integral part of music, speech, and vocalizations of animals. Since the rest of the auditory environment is primarily made up of nonharmonic sounds, the auditory system needs to perceptually separate the above two kinds of sounds. In mice, harmonics, generally with two-tone components (two-tone harmonic complexes, TTHCs), form an important component of vocal communication.

Background: Challenges in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) arthroscopy training include the cost of operating room time, surgical risks, and the accessibility of cadavers and high-fidelity simulators. A low-fidelity simulator (LFS) was developed for initial TMJ arthroscopy training.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate improvement in TMJ arthroscopic skills after training with an LFS using the Arthroscopic Surgical Skill Evaluation Tool (ASSET) global rating scale.

Previous research on disease history during the Song period primarily focused on ailments like colds and infectious diseases , or plagues prevalent in the southern regions of China.

Background: Gustav Mahler was a composer of the late Romantic period, one of the most famous conductors of his time and, as opera director, one of the most important reformers of musical theatre. Mahler's life, illnesses, death and dying are little or not at all known to many.
Objectives: Which illnesses determined Mahler's life? Could his early death have been avoided? From today's point of view, could modern intensive care medicine have helped him?
Material And Methods: A detailed analysis of Mahler's diseases was performed using scientific databases (medline, pubmed).
