In the last 3 years 86 patients were referred for suspected primary intrasellar pathology. Two of them had coexisting pituitary adenoma and partial empty sella. This situation has been diagnosed pre-operatively thanks to CT Iopamidol cisternography. The pre-operative diagnosis of this common anatomic condition allows safer operations, preventing intra-operative CSF fistulas.

Adsorption behaviors are typically examined through adsorption isotherms, which measure the average adsorption amount as a function of partial pressure or time. However, this method is incapable of identifying inhomogeneities across the adsorbent, which may occur in the presence of strong intermolecular interactions of the adsorbate. In this study, we visualize the adsorption of molecular iodine (I) in the metal-organic framework material MFM-300(Sc) using high-resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM).

Purpose: To assess the impact of MitoQ, a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant, on viability of human corneal endothelial cell (hCEnC) lines expressing mutations associated with congenital hereditary endothelial dystrophy (CHED) and Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy type 4 (FECD4).

Methods: wildtype () and mutant () hCEnC lines were created to express either variant 2 (V2) or variant 3 (V3) by stable transduction of hCEnC-21T with lentiviruses containing either or one of the following mutations: V2 (V3) mutants c.374 G>A (c.

Symptomatic Accessory Navicular Treated With Endoscopic Accessory Navicular and Partial Navicular Resection.

Foot Ankle Int

January 2025

Center for Foot and Ankle Surgery, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Yashio Central General Hospital, Saitama, Japan.

Background: This study aims to report the results of the patients with symptomatic accessory navicular (AN) who underwent endoscopic AN and partial navicular resection.

Methods: The medical records of patients with type 2 symptomatic AN who underwent the aforementioned surgery at our hospital from November 2019 to May 2022 with a follow-up of >2 years were reviewed. Data on clinical, radiographic, and patient-reported outcomes were obtained.

Application of aqueous two-phase extraction for separation and purification of various adeno-associated viruses.

Biotechnol Lett

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Biomass Chemical Engineering of Ministry of Education, Zhejiang Key Laboratory of Smart Biomaterials, College of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, 310058, China.

Objective: Adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) are widely used as gene therapy vectors due to their safety, stability, and long-term expression characteristics. The objective of this work is to develop an aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) as a universal platform for the separation and purification of AAVs.

Results: This study utilized polyethylene glycol (PEG)/salt ATPSs to separate and purify various AAV serotypes, including AAV5, AAV8, and AAV9, which focusing on serotype-specific performance and partial empty capsid removal.

Background: Frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA) is a scarring hair loss condition primarily affecting the frontotemporal hairline and often leading to partial or complete loss of eyebrows in a significant number of cases. It is characterized by slow progression and typically shows poor response to available treatments. Diagnosis relies on clinical, trichoscopic, and histopathological assessments, with specific criteria proposed by Vañó-Galván et al.
