Bronchoscopic extraction is the most common treatment of foreign body aspiration. However, surgical interventions are required in cases wherein bronchoscopic extraction is difficult, with the most frequent surgical strategy being bronchotomy or lobectomy. Herein, we report a case of foreign body aspiration wherein left pneumonectomy was inevitable because of a molar incarcerated in the left main bronchus. The large diameter of the foreign body and delayed diagnosis that causes granulomatous hyperplasia are considered to be major factors of requiring high invasive surgery.

We describe a novel technique for recurrent pterygium and assess the advantage of properties of extended tenonectomy, amniotic membrane transplantation, and limbal epithelial transplantation in terms of recurrence rate, postoperative symptoms, postoperative orthoptics, and other complications. A total of nine eyes with recurrent pterygium underwent PERMISLET, i.e.

This review explores the application of gastrointestinal endoscopy in exotic animals, a field with unique challenges due to the diverse anatomic and physiologic characteristics of species such as small mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. The study outlines its indications, including diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, and discusses the specific equipment and techniques required. Despite the technical difficulties and anesthesia risks associated with these procedures, gastrointestinal endoscopy remains a valuable tool in exotic animal medicine.

Distinctive molecular approaches and tools, particularly high-throughput SNP genotyping, have been applied to determine and discover SNPs, potential genes of interest, indicators of evolutionary selection, genetic abnormalities, molecular indicators, and loci associated with quantitative traits (QTLs) in various livestock species. These methods have also been used to obtain whole-genome sequencing (WGS) data, enabling the implementation of genomic selection. Genomic selection allows for selection decisions based on genomic-estimated breeding values (GEBV).

Surgical management of feline extra-hepatic biliary obstruction (EHBO) has poor survival rates with few prognostic factors reported in the literature. The etiology and clinical findings of feline EHBO and their influence on short-(2 weeks-6 months) and long-term (>6 months) survival and prognosis were examined in an observational clinical retrospective study of 26 client-owned cats undergoing surgery for biliary obstruction at one institution between 2012 and 2020. The etiology of EHBO was determined in 21/26 cats, which included inflammatory causes (14/21), neoplastic causes (6/21), and a duodenal foreign body (1/21).
