Screen-printed ion-selective electrodes were designed and characterized for the assessment of cyromazine (CYR) pesticide. A novel approach is to design tailor-made specific recognition sites in polymeric membranes using molecularly imprinted polymers for cyromazine (CR) determination (sensor I). Another sensor (sensor II) is the plasticized PVC membrane incorporating cyromazine/tetraphenyl borate ion association complex. The charge-transfer resistance and water layer reached its minimal by incorporating Polyaniline (PANI) solid-contact ISE. The designed electrodes demonstrated Nernstain response over a linear range 1.0 × 10-5.2 × 10 and 1.0 × 10-5.7 × 10 M with a detection limit 2.2 × 10 and 8.1 × 10 M for sensors I and II, respectively. The obtained slopes were 28.1 ± 2.1 (r = 0.9999) and 36.4 ± 1.6 (r = 0.9991) mV/decade, respectively. The results showed that the proposed electrodes have a fast and stable response, good reproducibility, and applicability for direct measurement of CYR content in commercial pesticide preparations and soil samples sprayed with CYR pesticide. The results obtained from the proposed method are fairly in accordance with those using the standard official method.

Supports coated with amino-hexyl and amino octyl have been prepared from glyoxyl agarose beads and compared in their performance with octyl-agarose to immobilize lipases A and B from Candida antarctica (CALA and CALB). Immobilization courses were similar using all supports, but enzyme release was more difficult using the amino-alkyl supports suggesting a mixed interfacial activation/ionic exchange immobilization. The enzyme activity and specificity (using p-nitrophenyl propionate, triacetin and both isomers of methyl mandelate) greatly depended on the support.

Unlabelled: The World Health Organization (WHO) 2030 roadmap for schistosomiasis calls for development of highly sensitive and specific diagnostic tools to continue and sustain progress towards elimination. Serological assays are excellent for sensitive detection of primary schistosome infections and for schistosomiasis surveillance in near- and post-elimination settings. To develop accurate assay formats, it is necessary to identify defined antibody targets with low cross-reactivity and potential for standardized production.

Tailor-made enzymes empower a wide range of versatile applications, although searching for the desirable enzymes often requires high throughput screening and thus poses significant challenges. In this study, we employed homology searches and protein language models to discover and prioritize enzymes by their kinetic parameters. We aimed to discover kynureninases as a potentially versatile therapeutic enzyme, which hydrolyses L-kynurenine, a potent immunosuppressive metabolite, to overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment in anticancer therapy.

Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) has emerged as key player in gene silencing for the past two decades. Tailor-made dsRNA is now recognized a versatile raw material, suitable for a wide range of applications in biopesticide formulations, including insect control to pesticide resistance management. The mechanism of RNA interference (RNAi) acts at the messenger RNA (mRNA) level, utilizing a sequence-dependent approach that makes it unique in term of effectiveness and specificity compared to conventional agrochemicals.
