Article Synopsis
  • - Brown-McLean Syndrome (BMS), first identified in 1969, is commonly linked to cataract complications and long-term aphakia, but this case highlights its occurrence in a patient with a patent peripheral iridectomy.
  • - A 35-year-old male with congenital glaucoma underwent a clinical evaluation where he showed mild vision blurriness but maintained good visual acuity; he had undergone previous eye surgeries and exhibited certain corneal and iris conditions.
  • - This case underscores the rare possibility of BMS developing in phakic patients after eye surgery, challenging the understanding of BMS and calling into question the protective role of peripheral iridectomy.

Brown-McLean syndrome not reported in association with homocystinuria and generally occurs in patients with long-term aphakia. Presented as peripheral corneal edema with central clear cornea tends to spare vision without the need of any surgical intervention. The purpose of reporting such a rare condition as a first case of Brown-McLean syndrome associated with systemic disease of homocystinuria.
