Alternative medical therapy with multiple intravenous colloidal silver infusions may cause severe illness, including profound copper deficiency-induced anemia and hepatic toxicity. No chelating agent for silver poisoning exists and effective therapy requires apheresis in combination with continuous administration of oral copper.

Background Elderly individuals, those with comorbidities and pregnant women are at a higher risk of developing severe dengue and succumbing to their illness. However, an increased incidence of severe dengue and fatalities are seen in females of the reproductive age. As per vaginal (PV) bleeding is an important complication that has not been well characterized, we sought to determine the frequency, complications and disease outcomes in women who develop PV bleeding.

Background: Intravenous albumin is used for resuscitation and substitution but is not supported by high-certainty evidence. As clinical practice likely varies, we aimed to describe the issuing of albumin solutions across Danish public hospitals.
Methods: We assessed issuing of intravenous albumin solutions (5% and 20%) to all Danish public hospitals in 2022.

Toll-like receptor (TLR) 7/8 agonists have shown significant potential in tumor immunotherapy. However, the limited pharmacokinetic properties and systemic toxicity resulting from off-target effects limits their biomedical applications. We here report the polyphenol-mediated assembly of resiquimod (R848, a TLR7/8 agonist) nanoparticles (RTP NPs) to achieve tumor-selective immunotherapy while avoiding systemic adverse effects.

Background: To compare the impact of two different lipid emulsions, specifically a soybean oil-based emulsion and a multiple oil emulsion (soybean oil, medium-chain triglycerides, olive oil, and fish oil, SMOF), on serum metabolites of very low birth weight (VLBW) infants using untargeted metabolomics analysis.
Methods: A comparative study was conducted on 25 VLBW infants hospitalized in neonatal intensive care units (NICU) of Hangzhou Women's Hospital in 2023. The infants were divided into the SMOF group (13 cases) and the soybean oil group (12 cases) based on the type of lipid emulsion used during parenteral nutrition.

Background: Intravenous lipid emulsions are an essential component of nutritional support for very preterm infants. Many neonatal intensive care units have transitioned from traditional soybean oil-only to fish oil-containing multicomponent lipid emulsions, but the neurodevelopmental implications have not been well-explored. The primary aim of this study was to assess extrauterine third trimester brain growth in very preterm infants supported with soybean oil-only compared to fish-oil containing multicomponent lipid emulsions; white matter development and neurobehavioral regulation at term were also investigated.
