Background: The transplantation process usually takes place without transplant teams being able to use imaging data to assess graft quality. The decision of whether to go get the graft or not is therefore limited and suboptimal. "Cristal images" is a teleimaging project allowing real-time visualization of images of the organs of the donor. The objective of our study is to assess whether the use of a secure teleimaging can improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the procurement and transplantation processes.
Methods: We will use the exhaustive national registry of organ allocation and transplantation, and compare outcomes before the deployment of "Cristal images" (years 2015-2016) and after it becomes operational (years 2018-2019) for heart, lung, liver and kidney transplant in a before-after study, combined with a preference elicitation study. The primary endpoint will be the number of successful organ transplantations. Secondary endpoints will be related to the efficiency of the transplant process (decision making, transportation, cost) and a preference elicitation study will determine the relative preferences of transplant teams towards few "Cristal images"' components or potential developments, which are yet to be determined through a qualitative analysis based on interviews with professionals.
Discussion: This study will provide stakeholders data on the efficiency of real-time visualization for transplant teams and identify the levers likely to influence the technology use among these teams.
Trial Registration: clinicaltrials.gov: NCT03201224 , 13 June 2017, retrospectively registered.

The care for lung transplantation patients is a complex, multidisciplinary coordination of physician and non-physician teams throughout the perioperative period. The diversity of etiologies of recipient end-stage lung disease further complicate care, as recipients often present with concomitant end-stage cardiac disease. Recently, the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation has become the mechanical circulatory support of choice to provide cardiopulmonary stability throughout the perioperative period.

Background: We aimed to measure the effect of a 2-day structured paediatric simulation-based training (SBT) on basic and advanced airway management during simulated paediatric resuscitations.
Methods: Standardised paediatric high-fidelity SBT was conducted in 12 of the 15 children's hospitals in Hesse, Germany. Before and after the SBT the study participants took part in two study scenarios (PRE and POST scenario), which were recorded using an audio-video system.

Background Kasai procedure (KPE) is a palliative intervention in infants with biliary atresia (BA) aiming to restore biliary drainage. While the measure of success in BA is the post-Kasai native liver survival, BA remains the most frequent indication for liver transplantation in children. While a considerable amount of children fail to clear their jaundice following KPE, resulting in early liver failure and transplantation, some children become jaundice-free after "successful" KPE.

Background: Hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) has curative potential but also relatively high morbidity and mortality. Patients have multidimensional palliative care (PC) needs throughout the transplant process. However, PC is not routinely offered to patients with hematologic malignancies.

More than 70 million adults in the United States are impacted by osteoarthritis (OA). Symptomatic articular cartilage loss that progresses to debilitating OA is being diagnosed more frequently and earlier in life, such that a growing number of active patients are faced with life-altering healthcare decisions at increasingly younger ages. Joint replacement surgeries, in the form of various artificial arthroplasties, are reliable operations, especially for older (>65 years), more sedentary patients with end-stage OA, but have major limitations for younger, more active patients.
