Article Abstract
In this work, we studied carbon paste electrodes (CPEs) with two kinds of binders: mineral oil or ionic liquids (IL) derived from N-substituted octyl pyridinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide with the substituents H-, CH-, CN- and CF-. The work aims to study this series of IL and determine a possible effect of the substituent of the cation in the behavior of the IL as a binder of graphite for obtaining IL-CPEs. The electrochemical response and the electrical behavior were measured by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, respectively. Surprisingly, the substituent does not affect the cyclic voltammetry response because in all the cases, high resistance and high capacitive currents were obtained. The best response in terms of conductivity is obtained by CPE. In the case of impedance measurements, the substituent does not cause differences, and in all the cases, the IL-CPEs show nearly the same responses. CPE shows lower capacitance and higher resistance for diffusion compared to the IL-CPEs due to his lower porosity. The high resistance showed by the IL-CPEs by cyclic voltammetry can be attributed to poorly intermolecular forces among graphite, water, electrolyte, and ILs as demonstrated by theoretical calculations.

A practical and efficient reaction for C2-selenylation of 1,4-naphthoquinones has been explored. This coupling reaction of two redox structural motifs, such as 2-bromo-1,4-naphthoquinone with diaryldiselenide / ebselen has been achieved by using sodium borohydride reducing agent at room temperature. Using this approach, several 2-selenylated-1,4-naphthoquinones were obtained in moderate to good yields and thoroughly characterized by multinuclear (1H, 13C, and 77Se) NMR, cyclic voltammetry, and mass spectrometry.

The rational design of multicomponent heterostructure is an effective strategy to enhance the catalytic activity of electrocatalysts for water and seawater electrolysis in alkaline conditions. Herein, MOF-derived nitrogen-doped carbon/nickel-cobalt sulfides coupled vertically aligned Rhenium disulfide (ReS) on carbon cloth (NC-CoNiS@ReS/CC) are constructed via hydrothermal and activation approaches. In the present study, 85% aqueous ethanol extract of stem bark (MESB) showed the isolation of six bioactive compounds including myricanone (), myricanol-5-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (), myricetin (), myricolol (), β-sitosterol (), and β-sitosterol-D-glucoside (). The HPLC approach revealed as a key bioactive compound, with a 69% abundance in the crude ethanol (CE) extract. Furthermore, the CE was assessed for antioxidant activity using DPPH and hydroxyl radical tests, while purified compounds were examined for total antioxidant capacity using cyclic voltammetry and verified using the density functional theory (DFT) method.
