Objective: To comprehend the effects of diverse therapeutic interventions on thromboelastography (TEG) and conventional coagulation parameters among individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer, this study aims to explore the clinical relevance of both thromboelastography and conventional coagulation metrics in evaluating coagulation function and predicting the incidence of thrombotic and hemorrhagic events in patients with colorectal cancer.

Methods: A cohort of 122 patients with colorectal cancer retrospectively recruited and divided into 2 groups: those undergoing surgical intervention (operation group) and those not subjected to surgery (non-operation group). According to the different types of treatment they received, the operation group was divided into chemotherapy-only group and a group receiving a combination of targeted therapy and chemotherapy.

Background: The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Protein Food ounce-equivalents are designed to identify plant sources of protein foods and provide serving size substitutions. Although the ounce-equivalent concept is simple, it fails to generate equivalent exchanges for protein or essential amino acids (EAAs).

Objective: To accurately define the EAA content of USDA Protein Food ounce-equivalents, to develop a more accurate food exchange list, and to evaluate the EAA-9 protein quality framework as a tool for determining precise EAA-equivalent substitutions.

: Virtual non-contrast (VNC) series reconstructed from contrast-enhanced cardiac scans acquired with photon counting detector CT (PCD-CT) systems have the potential to replace true non-contrast (TNC) series. However, a quantitative comparison of the image characteristics of TNC and VNC data is necessary to determine to what extent they are interchangeable. This work quantitatively evaluates the image similarity between VNC and TNC reconstructions by measuring the stability of multi-class radiomics features extracted in intra-patient TNC and VNC reconstructions.

Possibilities and Limitations in Substituting anti-Drug Antibody Titers with Signal-to-Noise Ratios: A Comprehensive Comparison Using Two Clinical Trial Datasets of Adalimumab.

AAPS J

November 2024

Clinical Bioanalysis Group, Samsung Bioepis Co., Ltd, 76, Songdogyoyuk-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, 21987, Republic of Korea.

Immunogenicity assessment is vital in clinical trials and is measured through a multi-tiered approach (screening, confirmatory and titer assays). However, recent studies have suggested that titer results could be reported from ADA signal-to-noise ratios (S/N ratios=sample mean signal/negative control mean signal). More data analysis using two clinical trials of adalimumab: SB5-1003 (single-dose, healthy participants) and SB5-4001 (multiple-dose, interchangeability study, patients with plaque psoriasis), therefore, is indispensable whether substituting ADA S/N ratio as an alternative way of reporting titer results has no impact on interpretation on clinical outcome.

Aloe species are often used interchangeably for medicinal and cosmeceutical applications, presenting a challenge to the biological efficacy consistency of some herbal preparations. Sustainable production of high-quality commonly used medicinal plants remains a limitation for commercialisation. Thus, this study investigated the potential for plant substitution by examining bacterial endophytes capable of producing similar host plant secondary metabolites.
