Introduction: Uncertainty exists regarding the optimal time for removal of central lines used to provide parenteral nutrition in preterm infants. The aim of this study is to determine whether earlier central line removal is non-inferior to its removal after reaching full enteral intake, in respect to growth outcome of preterm infants.

Methods And Analysis: Very low birthweight premature infants will be recruited. Eligible infants will be randomised in equal proportions between two groups. In the intervention group central lines will be removed when infants reach 100 mL/kg/day of enteral intake. In the control group central lines will be removed when infants reach 140 mL/kg/day of enteral intake (full enteral intake). The primary outcome measure will be the difference between the two groups in weight at 36 weeks' postmenstrual age. Non-inferiority will be declared if the mean weight of children in the intervention group will be no worse than the mean weight of children from the control group, by a margin of -210 g.

Ethics And Dissemination: The Bioethics Committee of the Medical University of Warsaw approved the study protocol prior to recruitment. The findings of this trial will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal (neonatology, paediatrics or nutrition). Abstracts will be submitted to relevant national and international conferences.

Trial Registration Number: NCT03730883.

Protocol Version: Version 3. 14.08.2019.

Background: Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) can enter patients' circulation through exogenous sources, such as enteral nutrition formulae. Circulating AGEs, specifically carboxymethyllysine, can promote insulin resistance and activation of pro-inflammatory pathways leading to oxidative stress, cell death, and organ failure. Suboptimal kidney function increases the risk of elevated circulating AGEs because levels are controlled through urinary excretion.

Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitology, Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University, Okayama, Japan.

Objective: This study aimed to clarify whether nutritional status at admission affects enteral nutrition weaning 6 months after surgery in patients with esophageal cancer.

Methods: This was a retrospective study of 81 patients who underwent subtotal esophageal cancer resection between April 2014 and February 2016. The survey items were as follows: 1) sex, 2) age, 3) presence or absence of family members living together, 4) clinical stage, 5) surgical procedure, 6) reconstructed organs, 7) nutritional status at admission, 8) presence or absence of postoperative complications (anastomotic leakage, chylothorax, and recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis), and 9) presence or absence of treatment other than surgery (chemo- or radiotherapy).

Background: The inability to ensure adequate nutrition for patients, and failure to provide adequate calorie and protein intake, result in malnutrition, leading to increased morbidity and mortality. The present study assesses the two approaches to enteral nutrition-intermittent and continuous enteral feeding-in critically ill pediatric patients in Türkiye to determine the superiority of one method over the other.

Methods: Included in this multicenter prospective study were patients receiving enteral nutrition via a tube who were followed up over a 3-month period.

Importance: Neonatal protein intake following very preterm birth has long lasting effects on brain development. However, it is uncertain whether these effects are associated with improved or impaired brain maturation.

Objective: To assess the association of neonatal protein intake following very preterm birth with brain structure at 7 years of age.

Purpose: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare, aggressive pediatric malignancy. Advanced ACC requires multimodal treatment, including surgery and systemic chemotherapy including cisplatin, etoposide, doxorubicin, and mitotane. This is associated with significant gastrointestinal toxicity, resulting in many patients being unable to complete scheduled therapy.
